That's a landmark passed. Or two. The second was a real eye opener.
Last run with a break completed. After completing week 5 I've almost resented having to stop. Was it a backward step? I've done 20-surely I shouldn't be running shorter distances now.
The revelation came tonight. After the first ten, I did the walk. I didn't "need" to-I'd almost decided to run 23 straight to get ready for Run 3. Then off on the second ten-take it slow, or up the pace says Mr Johnson. What the hell-lets up the pace for the first couple of minutes and then jog the last 7 or 8....
Five minutes in and I realise I'm running. Not the old bloke shuffle I'd perfected over the last few weeks but properly running. Like I did at school -not as fast admittedly but there was definitely clear air space between my thighs (if you get what I mean). And I stayed at that pace for the full ten. I was done in at the end, but could have just gone back to the shuffle if I wanted. Hells teeth it feels good.
As I neared the end I ran (yes-I can now say that) past a dog walking friend with a cheery welcome. Saw her as I warmed down-"Running and talking Mr B? Very impressive"
Bring on the 25 minutes.
