Pride comes before a fall

2.5 years of running, never fallen over. 80 Parkruns completed, never fallen over. Beautiful still sunny morning here on the south coast, and with a solid training block for the great south run under me, decided to push for a parkrun PB. I normally start close to the back as a slower runner, but I pushed my luck starting further forward than usual. We have 300+ runners so the first few hundred metres is pretty congested. Less than 200m in caught my toe in a slightly recessed paving stone, got nudged as I hesitated and did a full face plant, only my statuesque embonpoint stopped my chin actually hitting the ground. Bruised ribs, bruised knees, various grazes, but fortunately nothing that won't heal fairly quickly. With the wind knocked out of me I really didn't feel like carrying on. I have to say the volunteers were excellent in making sure I was ok and getting me to sit until I had recovered a bit. PB will have to wait for another day.

Oh no - you poor thing! It is easy to do. Your Park Run PB will happen another time. The volunteers at Park Run are fab! I hope you aren't too sore this morning 👍

Ouch! Sounds a good call not to attempt to get back to the event, but I do think that sometimes walking around helps to dissipate the effects of the massive adrenalin rush.

Hooray for chest padding!

I am well on the road to recovery thank you. Bumped into one of the regular volunteers this morning at our local farmers market - she was still checking I was alright!
