First full 5k at Parkrun

I'm not going to lie, it was a struggle, but today I completed a parkrun with no walking! It's not pretty, it's certainly not speedy, but I really can run 5k now. I came in in 39 mins something, so I'm doing 8 minute k's at this point, and an extra 9 mins is quite a step up.

Time to find myself a new programme (and maybe some new gismo's) to play with. Any recommendations?

Well done you 5K and I'd say that sounds like a quick time, your doing so brilliantly 😀

Wow...that's brilliant...I cannot manage the whole 3 laps without a little walk in between times but hopefully I won't be far behind you!!! Fab x

You'll be flying round the full 3 laps before you know it Mummycav! I liked your pic yesterday. Having parkrun right outside your house is a great incentive.

Well done on completing your first Parkrun.😊All running too...💪

Someone said the other day, running is the best way to improve your running, you gain strength and stamina every run which in time will convert to you running faster....So keep up the practise and having fun at your Parkrun, you are actually doing brilliantly.😊

Thanks JNR - a parkrun is such a good way to set you up for the weekend. 👍🏃🏼‍♀️😁

Well done you. 👏 The parkrun is on my to do list but so far I have only got as far as registering. I was going to drive down to the local one this morning to check it out but slept in. Maybe next week lol.

It is difficult to forego extra sleep on a Saturday morning. I have a 6 yr old so have no choice, but if I didn't the lure of the duvet would make parkrun difficult!

I am actually quite cross with myself now for not getting up. Will try and make a better effort next week.

Well done. Same here. Parkrun done in 39 minutes. I'm just going to keep running 5kms and try and get a bit faster

Great Louisep- we ran together!

That's a really good time. Don't get hung up on speed - you ran 5K without stopping. That's what matters. I aspire to a 30 minute park run, but even though I've come close (once), I think it will be a while before I actually manage it. But that's not really the point. I love the run and the chat after.

Well done.... Bluebirdrunner has given some good advice.. have you done the C25K+ podcasts?

Thanks oldfloss - I've downloaded the C25k+ podcasts and will give them a go this week. I've also bought a garmin watch but am not sure how to use it yet!

Well done you are much braver than me don't like people watching me run,

Plus they would use a calender not a stopwatch for my time
