Very nervous that it would turn out to be a fluke.

Last week I was despairing. I had reached, with some difficulty, week 7. I posted on this forum the problem of my breathing, and got some brilliant advice in reply.

This Monday - after deciding to repeat week 7, and following the words of wisdom, I had an almost Damascene conversion finishing W7R1. Wow - this is completely do-able!

Then I found myself on Wednesday getting more and more nervous that it had been a fluke.

So I set off on Wednesday for W7R2 pretty nervous - but - yippedydoodah - not totally easy - but definitely not hard. And I ran for the last minute again.

So considering that I am now 62, have never run, and two years ago could hardly walk or move either of my arms, I feel that what this programme has done for me is nothing short of a minor miracle.

So thank you NHS for my new hip and shoulders.

Thank you everyone who has given me advice.

And if I can do it - anyone can.

This is simply wonderful, Babs, I am so happy for you! You know, sometimes we have unsatisfying runs, and that's the fluke. The good runs are not flukes. You run. End of. And you are AMAZING! 😘

As someone roughly in the same demographic and level of fitness when you started ..can I say well done! Not just a minor miracle, a blindingly good major one I'd say! Congratulations. You've inspired me to keep going with something g that seems totally uphill at the moment.

Oh gosh! I feel for you - honestly. Just slow down. It works like a dream. And the feeling when you get to the 'you have now done five minutes' talk, and your lungs aren't screaming for you to stop is amazing. And then you get to half way - and then twenty minutes, and it's still OK. And then you RUN for the last minute.

The turnaround in my performance is nothing short of jaw dropping (for me, obviously).

I have just come back from W7R3 (should be in the shower, but saw your post) and it feels GREAT.

Blimey - imagine me being inspiring. Thank you for making my day. x

PS how have you solved the breathing issues ...I so can't breathe through my nose. Seems always congested!

Haha! Just been having that conversation in the car with my husband coming back from the run.

Look away now if this is too much information.

I stuff three folded up tissues in my sleeve. Folded so I can retrieve one at a time. I have now mastered the 'keep running, but don't breathe for a few seconds' way of blowing my nose.

Wow - the things you learn on this forum. Sublime to the ridiculous. x
