Week 9 run 2

After finally telling myself not to be such a wimp and running week 9 run 1 the other day - I just ran 30 mins non stop again this morning! So happy. The mentors advice to slow right down really does work 😊. (Even if I feel a bit silly going slowly with small steps up the hills - mainly only cows to see me luckily) As I've posted before I got stuck on taking short walks up the hills on my route - but although I was happy doing that, I realised that I wasn't really going to make progress if I didn't challenge myself a bit more. One more to go 😬

Once you can run a hill slowly, you may be able to speed up in time......if you want to. There are no rules to recreational running, but if you want to see progress, then challenges are inevitable. We limit ourselves hugely by our own mindsets.

Many congratulations, thirty minute runner.

Keep running, keep smiling.

Thank you - not sure I will manage to speed up much on the hills but at least now I know I can actually run all the way up by slowing down. You are so right about it being a mindset thing.

Who cares if you are slow and only take small steps on hills? Personally the achievement of running/jogging for 30 minutes would over shadow that, as OldFloss likes to say, slow and steady, pace can come after as your fitness and stamina build.

Well done on W9R2

Thank you LeeU - I realised I wasn't going to build up any stamina or pace if I just kept taking walk breaks up hill.

Slowly up hills if defo the best way. My favourite run has a hill half way round. I used to try and run up it too fast and it almost ruined my whole run. It wasn't too bad when you had walks to recover but since non-stop runs started have to slow down to get over it. It works though, means I can go better at the end once down on the flat finish:)!!!

Yes it does seem to work - just telling myself to not worry about how slow my uphill pace is - I can make it by slowing down. Unfortunately my route kicks up at the end which is a killer!

Brilliant that's a foot and a toe on the podium. See all of you there very soon

Nearly there. Fantastic. Those damn hills .... but they'll never win. You're a winner.
