GRADUATION RUN πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“

So happy, never in a million years did I think I would be writing this post , never mind actually getting off the couch to complete C25K but I did and I have! Never once faltered or even wanted too. I have run in the rain, wind, through a field, had a dog chasing me, and I even took the trainers with me on holiday to complete 3 runs in early sunrise and heat. This is one of the hardest tasks I have ever done, no idea I had such dedication or motivation. A massive thank you to everyone in this group without your constant encouragement and words of wisdom I know I would not be writing this. To all the newbies just starting - listen to the mentors - follow the instructions, have rest days, and most of all ENJOY and have FUN as very soon it will be you GRADUATING.

Wow, that is just fantastic, and your photograph says it all. I love the tee shirt and the grin on your face. You will be wearing it all day I expect (the grin that is, not the tee shirt).

This may be the end of the programme but it is just the start of your post graduate running time.

Happy running and congratulations. I hope you have cake or bubbles or something lovely to celebrate with. πŸΎπŸ°πŸ…πŸŽ‰πŸŽˆ

Cannot wait to get there myself! You are an inspiration along with all the runners on here. I cannot believe the happiness and wellbeing getting off my .... has given me. Reading and following what others are doing is really interesting, actually hearing that all are doing this for the same reason and enjoying it.

MsFickle profile image
MsFickle in reply to tfcmagpie

Thank you - this group is my inspiration without all the encouragement and support I think I may have given up - especially at Week 1 - never thought I would move on to week 2 - but the program is set at a level which is achievable and knows we are capable of completing - it is addictive I run every other day and the days rest is thinking about running - pretty sad really seeing as I hated running or being out of breath :)

Fantastic picture! Absolute triumph and celebration. If you're anything like me when I graduated you'll find it hard to get rid of that grin, so be prepared for aching face muscles the next day, LOL!

On second thoughts - if you can manage a long run you can certainly manage a long grinning session. Have a great day!

MsFickle profile image
MsFickle in reply to iain-strachan

Thank you so much - I am still on a terrific high - sat here planning a route for tomorrow my next aim is to complete 5k I am only up to 4.4 at the minute :)

iain-strachan profile image
iain-strachanGraduate in reply to MsFickle

Yes I think that was about my distance at graduation. Next run I did was go straight to 5k. Out and back to a small village across the fields, 2.5 km each way. I completed it in 38 mins, then two days later round a reservoir I did 5 k in just over 36. Parkrun debut on the Saturday was 37:36.

Once you've done the 30 minutes, another 5-10 on top of that is no biggie.

MsFickle profile image
MsFickle in reply to iain-strachan

Thank you I will try my best - I dont think I am anywhere close to 5k yet - cant decide whether to continue repeating week 9 or start at week 1 and when it says walk i will jog and when it tells me to jog I could run faster ? any thoughts please ?

iain-strachan profile image
iain-strachanGraduate in reply to MsFickle

I would say that as long as you're not exhausted at the end of 30 minutes, then go for it. Only stop if you are starting to feel out of breath by that time. But the course teaches you to find your own pace, that you can sustain for long periods without collapsing in a heap.

In one of my week 8 runs, I seriously underestimated the length of the course I'd plotted, and by the end of 28 mins I was nowhere near back to where I'd parked the car. As I had to go and pick up my daughter from a friend's at a specified time, I just cut the time by running through the 5 minute cool down walk, making it a 33 minute run. Absolutely no problem at all. And of course it left me realising that Week 9 was going to be a doddle.

Now you said in the OP that you never once faltered or wanted to. So I reckon you could do it. Only time to take a rein-check is if you feel you're gasping for breath, or any major discomfort.

Great pic which says it all - congratulations. I have just completed Wk1 πŸ˜‹

MsFickle profile image
MsFickle in reply to Surreyjelbel

Thank you - Well done Surreyjelbel completing week 1 - I found week 1 the hardest of them all, my body went into shock at exercising - I was so out of breath someone actually stopped to ask if I needed any help - but I persevered and the runs became easier - stick with it - you will do it- the program is so clever and built at such a level your body is able to cope with the next week - word of warning it will become addictive :)
