Had a heart bypass operation in April and realised I had been given a second chance when I saw couch to 5k.

On week 2 day 1 and finding it hard going because exercise before my op was a big swearword!!!

Got to keep going and look forward to the support on here.

Fantastic that you've taken the plunge into C25k. Take it slowly and if in any doubt do check with your doctor/consultant about how much you can and can't do while recovering from the surgery. There are quite a few of us in here who took up information with C25k after health scares (mine was after being recommended to run by my Macmillan trainer while overcoming breast cancer and a mastectomy) . I certainly feel a lot fitter now, and it has given me feeling of being in control of my body, rather than at the mercy of a disease and a surgeon.

Well done you for joining the best running club in the world. You've done the worst week I promise you. Yes every week stretches you a little, but take it easy and at your own pace and you'll be fine. Let us know how you're doing, because we love to see fellow runners progress.

Very well done on starting this life changing programme..:)

The rule, not just for you I hasten to add... is slow and steady... slow and slower... This is a great journey and one to be taken gently and enjoyed!

Keep posting for terrific support and encouragement and even the odd shove if you feel you need one... there can be days when it all seems too much. Some gentle non impact exercise on rest days too will help..walking or swimming maybe.. all stuff to build up your core strength and stamina!

Just keep it really, really gentle and remember.. on here, there is no such thing as too slow... as the original Grey Snail.. I should know:)

Welcome and well done for making the most of that 'second chance'. Couch to 5k is the perfect way to safely build up that fitness and this forum is a brilliant place for support along the way. Be prepared though...this running game is very addictive! Good luck☺

I won't give you the slow and steady message again as you've already heard it a dozen times ... Oh, hang on, yes I will: keep it slow and steady, enjoy your running even if you feel you could walk faster, and enjoy your rest days also. Very important. Don't forget your warm up walk. Streeeetch afterwards. Hydrate. Enjoy!
