Late night run tonight as i had been away for a few days on holiday so this one is a day later than usual. Determined to fit it in as i felt my motivation lacking recently but deffo don't want to give up having got this far so come 10 o clock, i get my gear on and set off. Safety first- i take the route with street lights (one of my many routes i seem to be collecting!) The first thing that strikes me are the pure number of slugs! I was avoiding those bad boys left right and centre which kept me off pace a little, then the snails appeared... crunch urghhh! Also, slugs and snails are definately a trip hazard as they are so damn slimy! So, safe to say running in the dark was not totally pleasant although i did enjoy the dark and the anonymity it brings weirdly enough! So will be trying again (maybe a little earlier next time) and no doubt will continue in winter when there is no light in England on an afternoon/evening!
Runner-1
Slugs-0
On another note, the insides of my knees are starting to hurt when i run so i would love some recommendations for exercises to stenwgthen those muscles
Also i am still very slow... not sure how i can increase my speed a little (not a lot, i still want to take it steady) any tips would be gratefully accepted!
Thanks

Speed... no tips there... this is all about slow and steady and the way to reach the podium, injury free, ( slugs permitting) is to take it gently. The time for speed will come...
You may find as the runs get longer and your running legs are building up, alongside the stamina and the core strength, that you are finding that your happy pace has developed too
