Dogs, dogs and more dogs!!!

W7R3 completed this morning with the last minute at a faster pace. Feeling good. But......all those dogs on walkies. Some it seems don't like runners. I've been attacked twice in the last year or so. I have worked out a strategy. Run towards them and stare into their eyes. They lose interest and ignore you. This strategy worked this morning on just one occation.

Blimey boblit are you running in a Game of Thrones set? I do have the barking dogs which cause me to jump, but the others I see on my runs are quite nice and friendly.

But good for you a winning dog and run strategy. Good luck for W8

Thanks Jan. Running round the houses is ok because dogs are on a lead. It's open parkland, where dogs run free.

Crikey, three times!

Are you running with a string of sausages around your neck?!

I was a bit concerned about a few stray dogs when running by the sea in Puglia but mostly they just looked at me as if they felt sorry for me.

Were the dogs out with their walkers or roaming alone? I hope you were not badly hurt.

In other dog-related news, last night we stayed in an agriturismo, a sort of farmhouse B&B, following a wedding and this morning I was slightly shocked to discover a small dog on the ground at the foot of the bed... it seems my husband didn't close the door properly! Appeared to be a friendly fellow though.

Nice when they are friendly.

I've had a few nasty encounters with irresponsible canine owners over here. Loose dogs can also be a nightmare.

I have thought of getting a tee shirt with 'YOU know your damn dog is friendly - the long suffering public however do not! - Keep your overenthusiastic slobbery run disrupting crotchsnorting dog on a short leash!'

But I settled for a tee shirt that states 'You let your dog jump at me and I'll pull its leash through your nose,,,by the long route!' ;)

Seriously though - SOME dog owners are very ignorant on the paths, but like everything else the vast majority are fine and considerate people. I try and just steer clear of all of them when possible - and when not if its a 'jumper' I figure the adrenaline rush will get me a bit further than I would have ; )
