Well....where do I start??? I've put a picture on but I scared myself when I saw the state of my face when I got back so I've obscured it but left a little bit of my cheek on so you can see the colour....it's the same as my TOP!!!!

That was HARD!!!! I said I was looking forward to this run & I was because I got a bit confident after completing W5R3...so have been having quite blasé thoughts like "oh, that'll be easy compared to what I did on Friday, back to walking breaks...piece of cake!!!" How WRONG could I be??!!! How come? I don't get it!!!! That said, I did it..think there was a lot less oxygen for the people in my town coz it was passing through my mouth in big breaths!!!!Gremlins popped up a couple of times, they even started stabbing me in my ribs....but I just moved my thoughts to my surroundings..there was no smell of the greasy spoon this morning as it's bank holiday...that always turns my stomach so I was thankful for that...MacDonalds was busy for breakfasts...the car wash guys gave me my usual wave...plumbers merchants & chemist closed so it was somewhat quieter this morning...lovely sunny bank holiday Monday...I haven't got the usual silly grin on my face that i have when I complete a run & im not sure why...maybe it's because I've just been taken by surprise??!!!! Is this normal after this run????

I felt like that after W1R3! How on earth am I going to feel when I'm as far as you, if I even get that far! Lol 😂 you doing brilliantly hun so put that grin back on!

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to CB27LJ10

Aw, thank CB...you will get there, definitely...take things slow & listen to your body...runs that you don't quite manage are practice runs that are adding to the distance you've run & the stamina you're building up...I was like that after W1R1 too...but that's a distant memory now & before you know it it will be for you too...keep going chick...you can do it!!! 💪🏻🏃🏼‍♀️

Funnily enough I've just redone w1r3 - as I've restarted after graduating in July (I can't get enough of this incremental encouragement).

And it is hard. Still.

I think the body-mind has a weird way of running to its limit even though you're giving instructions to go slow, and slower still. Much to learn - mainly from each other, I suspect. Keep going, keep posting, so will I - power to the collective!

(It was also v v hot this morning.)

MuddyJane profile image

You will definitely get that far.... dig deep and trust the programme. 💪🏃

Yay good girl x I was the same shade too 😁and it was definitely a shock to the system but hey w6/R1 in the bag xxx

This run catches a lot of people out. We think it will be easy after 20 minutes but somehow it's not. Well done on getting through it. I always used to feel great after run 1 each week because I had cracked a new time. But week 6 messes that up so that will be the reason for lack of silly grin. It will be back never fear.

Hey mummycav, this one was my nemesis run. I needed a helluva lot of support from the guys on the forum to do it. This one is weird because after your last run, you feel invincible, and so doing a smaller interval I thought would be easier... hmm maybe not. Matching face to top, I think that's raspberry diva according to the Dulux paint chart..

But you did it, W6 is a feisty little one, but you'll do it, you know you will. And just elbow those gremlins firmly back in the ribs.

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to

Thanks JCR...I don't mind being a raspberry diva!!! I've found the raspberry but not the diva in me yet!!! I thought I'd got the hardest run over with but I fear not....this morning though Bev 1 - Gremlins 0 😊😊😊

Hey lovely,

Don't worry about your after run colour, look at some of my pics, especially yesterday's and you'll see its similar. You've worked hard and it shows, that's good.

You are listening to your body,,so don't worry. I know the feeling of smells and cooking fats as they pass your nose, it makes you heave.

Start off slow now on your next run and deep breaths. You are doing well through these weeks, so a huge hug is being sent your way xx 🤗🤗

Can't keep calling you mummy cav, what's your name haha? X

For some reason, that run is a kicker. It is the one that floors the most people. So pat yourself of the back for sailing through it. The red face, it is hot out there today in some parts, that will take its toll. Hydrate well and be proud, well done.

Hey lovely - yeh !!!!!! to another one in the bag . 👜💼👜🎒👝I struggled with this bad boy too and this pesky gremlins kept popping in towards the end . The shades of red we achieve ha ha ha from pink to scarlet

WELL DONE --- we can do this !!!

Well done W6R1 particularly difficult. All the interval run/ walks take you a further distance than W5R3, and the individual runs are not long enough to let you settle into a rhythm.

That said it is also hot today. I have just come back from my first race, and running @ 11am today as opposed to my normal 5.30am runs the heat took its toll.

You may have struggled but you finished. You should be proud💪

Mummycav profile image

Thanks whataspp...it did surprise me without a doubt!! Feisty little run!!!

Sounds like you've been busy today already...well done to you too!! 💪🏻

Good work Mummycav😊😎...

Ha, when I suggested you look ahead to see what week 6 had in store it was to help you with Week 5R3..😆 no week is easy, but as you have proved is doable with a bit of determination😊.

Really proud of you and all W6 R1's today..its hot and you still ran and nailed it..Well done.x

Mummycav profile image

Thank you so much... you telling me to peek at W6 did get me through so your plan worked!!!!....and I think you could tell from my reply that I thought it was going to be a breeze after that....bet you were waiting to see my post??!!!! I'd prob still be on W5R3 if it weren't for you!!! I owe you one!!!! 🍻

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to louisep76

Ha ha...I genuinely thought it would be one of the easiest!!! How wrong can you be??!! The first 5 mins were ok but the 8 was a killer!!! It seemed like 80!!! I did the last run on familiar ground...alone in the park so nobody could see the raspberry labouring by....then I saw one of my neighbours...bet he thought there was an intercity 125 coming at him with the noise & prob thought I was going to cark it judging by my colour!!!!! I was cream crackered...but I didn't stop....🚉

Gillma profile image

My favourite colour! W6 is tricky.

Decker profile image

I hope I did not mislead you to think that the next run would be easier. For me the mental barrier was the 20 min run. You dug deep and made it through a difficult challenge and now you are stronger for it. Nice work!

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to Decker

Not at all Decker....I think all of the weeks will be a challenge...that's what we need to do, dig deep & read the support & encouragement from our running buddies on here...I looked at W6R1 & because it had walking breaks again I assumed it would be easy..far from it!!! Grit & determination required at all times!!!!!

In a while you won't care a jot about the colour of your post run face. nope, not at all 😃👍🏃‍♀️✔️

I think the grin wasn't there because, as Celine Dion once sang, "baby this is getting seeeeeerious" ... you're a serious runner! Week six feels so far along it's amazing. Get that grin back on though.

My face goes an alarming orange colour, something like a bright coral that also matches my top! I'll find a dulux paint match... or it might have to be some sort of 80s neon shade...

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to icklegui

Ha ha I think you're right...this is getting serious!!! week 6 does feel like I've come quite a way...I'd never have thought it though, ever, but here I am....😱

Pink is the colour,

Running is the game,

We're all in it together

And fitness is our aim!

I go a deeper shade of red when I exercise. I can see people's concerned faces as I stagger past but I keep going nonetheless. Well done.

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to Downtwo

😂😂😂😂 I can too..I understand their alarminess when I get home & see it for myself!!! Someone will get St Johns ambulance to follow me of these days!!!!

Like the rhyme...I might be quoting that in time with my feet next run!!!

Glad you like the rhyme. I think it might help when I am flagging a bit. Interestingly enough the emoji next to my user name has a red background. How did they know! Well here's to week 3 starting on Wednesday if it doesn't rain too hard.

Well done - so you got through Wk5(3) OK? I also did Wk6(1) today as well and found the first five minutes hard. After than just kept plugging on and counting 160 for each minute. Feeling a real afterglow and sort of looking forward to Run 2.....

Well done you. I have my WK6 run 1 tomorrow first thing. I look forward to it and hope that I don't feel like you did afterwards. Keep on running. I am so looking forward to finishing in WK9 it will be the first personal notable achievement in my life for some time. Every time I go out now I target another personal victory.

You're doing great I always look like that after my runs and I have made it to week 8 run 3 I'm even going out with more advanced runners now keep it up. I never thought I could get to here I thought I was going the first week. I thought going back to breaks would be easier but it was harder only one more interval run left you'll be fab xxx

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to ragdollscot

Aww, thankyou, that's so encouraging...I sometimes wonder if I'd run better with other people..I love running alone but I think the gremlins voices are louder..it's easier to stop when your alone whereas with others you just carry on with them?? x

ragdollscot profile image
ragdollscotGraduate in reply to Mummycav

I admire you being able to do it yourself I haven't done it alone started with my friend and we have other friends who we can tag along with if we need company but if I did it myself I would give up don't fancy joining a running club though don't think I'm ready for that ha ha keep going if I can get there so can u even if we do get beetroot faces 🙈😂🙈

Yes W6R1 is a surprise to many including me. It looks like a step back but is definitely as step up. After it, I felt more prepared for W6R2 and the grin returned.

As to the colour, it is a slightly lighter hue than my normal, but yes it does match your top!

Razouski profile image
Razouski

Week 6 is a funny one after the challenge of W5R3 but you completed the run, that's an achievement in itself and another step along the journey towards graduating. Don't worry about it. Even after graduating some runs are more difficult than others.

I laughed at the thought of your townsfolk suffering from oxygen depletion as you used it all up! 😂

unlikelyrunner profile image
unlikelyrunnerGraduate

I think there's something about the run after a major sucess being difficult. I also really struggled through w6r1 (my very first post was on that subject) and today I struggled after a sucessful park run on Saturday. Maybe we go out a tiny bit faster and more confident and just wear ourselves out faster or something. Anyway brilliant that you conquered that one - onwards and upwards!
