Carry on whilst on holiday... or have a holiday?

Evening all.

So, I'm off on holiday on Saturday and where I'm going has a running track (only available early morning as it gets covered with the sun loungers after that for the rest of the day) and a gym with the treadmills.

I really, really, really want to carry on with C25K whilst I'm away as I am really proud of what I have achieved so far however, I am worried that if I stop then I won't get back in to it. I know what I'm like unfortunately!

I have a treadmill at home but I've been running outside since doing C25K and I much prefer it to the treadmill but is it a holiday if I get up at 6am every other morning just so I can run outside?

The multiple choice question is...

Shall I carry on with C25K whilst on holiday (how many of you have done this?)?

If yes, use the running track knowing I'll enjoy it more but have to get up at 6am to do so?

If yes, use the treadmill knowing I'll not enjoy it but I can do it when it's conventient?

Have a relaxing holiday doing nothing at the risk I don't get back in to C25K (but then again, I might)?

First world problems I know but this bloomin' programme has got to me in a way I never thought possible!

Yes, yes, maybe, maybe. Just my opinion... but big question is how long is the holiday if one week then probably don't sweat it, if 2, then you may want to do something to keep your legs in.

My running gear is the first thing I pack😀. I always run routes I find using Google Earth usually in the French countryside in the early morning and it's part of my holiday. You must do what is right for you. If you can get up at 6am and you want to, then do so. Maybe mix it up with the gym? You can relax after you exercise. It's your holiday to enjoy as you wish. Enjoy your time away.

Run. Of course. Have a lie in till 6 and relish your run. Holidays are meant for enjoyment.

I always run on hols ... great way to explore the local area .... I do get up early and get out (personal choice as less people around and less heat!) I have had a good few chats with local shop keepers and found out stuff you may not otherwise know .. I love how it starts my day ... I feel better in myself as for me my excercise is such n

Important part of my routine

Yes, definitely take your running gear, and maybe look at another route to run if you don't want to get up at 6am. I love running when I'm away as it's a lovely way of seeing a bit more of the place. This year I managed tourist runs in the Isle of Wight (when visiting my dad), Haworth in Yorkshire (Bronte Country) in the snow, Manchester (visiting my daughter at Uni), Wiltshire, Dublin, and The New Forest. But my favourite runs were when we went to Thailand at Easter. I had to get up early to try and run before it got too hot, but it was totally awesome.

Just take your kit, and then the choices are yours when you get there. I'm sure if you don't run, and you're not away for too long, you'll soon be able to get back to where you were in the programme. If it's for a longer period you may want to go back over some of the previous weeks first.

Enjoy your holiday. 🏖☀️🌊

Run if you can, don't worry if you don't fit it in. I'm only on week 4 so am no expert but I went away for a week on week 1/2. Took my stuff not knowing if it would get used or if I would get chance. I didn't want it to get in the way of our family holiday but really wanted to keep to the program, even at that early stage.

Ended up doing one just before tea one evening and one early one when I was awake early.

Don't beat yourself up either way!!!

Have a break - I did last week and ran for 25 mins today no problem, your fitter now. Holiday means holiday! IMO x

Where are you going? Can you skip the track and run out in the community? It's a great joy to run on vacation.

I have awful geography and I'd be worried about running somewhere unfamiliar.

Out and back routes are the way to go if you're prone to getting lost.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll take my running gear with the intention of running but will try not to beat myself up if it doesn't happen.
