W7R2....disaster 😒

Well after doing w7r1 I'm wondering what went wrong tonight, it was such a struggle had to walk twice during this one, wasn't feeling it at all, got 13 mins in and hit a wall, I completed the whole 25 mins and walked extra at the end to make up to 5.2k my legs burned like hell and couldn't get my breathing right, sorry for the negative post but feel down on myself right now 😒

Oh please don't be so hard on yourself, sometimes we have crap runs. Maybe you needed a little more rest, sounds like it if you hit the wall at 13 minutes and especially if your breathing was wrong. You've done run 1 - therefore it can be done and you will do it. I really can't remember in which post I read this comment, something like ' put it in the F... it bucket'. But that is exactly what you should do. It's not your normal run and be kind to yourself - if this was somebody else posting you'd give them a virtual hug. So hug yourself tight, take a deep breath and promise yourself some good rest and another go.

Aww thank you hun, I know I shouldn't be so hard but it just annoyed me that I did it OK last time, but onwards and upwards I shall go, it won't defeat me, I know I can do it, large glass of wine and it'll all be OK πŸ˜€

in reply to mizz_happy

That's better now you're talking like your name. And please please take note of RebeccaSK dont let it affect the next one.... I am not allowed the glass of red until tomorrow, so joining you in the glass virtually now🍷

Did someone say wine?

in reply to RebeccaSK

It's wine o'clock, but not on the night before I run. I've become so damned virtuous...πŸ˜‡

You really have. In preparation for my aquathon tomorrow I've just polished off a baked camembert and a ton of bread!

Good girl ...yummy good luck for tomorrow xx

in reply to RebeccaSK

Ooh. Camembert, I love that. And I am convinced it's perfect for aquathons. Go you and knock em out of the pool? Or is it Hove harbour?

You absolutely did the right thing in posting here - no need to apology needed! Believe me, we all have runs like that - I've had more than my fair share. It just happens and there doesn't always seem to be a reason. The hardest thing now, for me at least, is not to let it affect your next run - just chalk it up to a crap run and move on. Try not to think about it too much. If you're anything like me and many others here, you're pushing your body harder than it really wants to go and it doesn't take much to upset the apple cart. You can do this - you've already done it once - you can do it again!

Thank you so much, I think its just because its my first bad run and felt defeated, I'll take your good advice and move on πŸ˜€

Your first bad run? I am so envious!

I did Week 7 for nearly 3 weeks. Just started Week 8 today. You are in transition. You are closer to completing than the couch now!! Well done and keep going. We're all with you.

3 weeks of week 7 wow, well done you I will see how my next one goes and think about repeating if its as bad as this one was good luck for week 8 😊

I think 25min of non stop running is an amazing achievement. Seeing as tho I've never been able to run before C25K and swore at Laura every time when she went from 3min to 5min, then 5min to 8min etc. Look at us doing 25mins!! Wow!

in reply to Catherine2255

Precisely, I can remember the 60 seconds run, when I truthfully thought I'd give up there and then.

mizz_happy profile image
mizz_happyGraduate in reply to

Hahaa me too, wow that seems so long ago now cannot believe how much we have all achieved πŸ‘πŸ‘

mizz_happy profile image
mizz_happyGraduate in reply to Catherine2255

It really is amazing, I was never a runner but really wanted to do it, can't believe how hard it is mentally and physically but we have achieved so much since those first weeks πŸ˜€

It was a practice run, nothing more. Next time out start off slower, you can do this!

mizz_happy profile image

Thank you, I will definitely be going slower next time πŸ˜€

Don't be too hard on yourself, it was just one bad run and it happens to all of us, before and after graduation. Your body is different every single day - it could be how well rested you were, what you ate (or didn't), whether you were sore or stiff, your body might have needed an extra rest day, there might have been something on your mind... It doesn't matter. Just lace up and go out there again for your next run. You can do this.

mizz_happy profile image
mizz_happyGraduate in reply to Shivani05

Thank you, i m feeling a lot better about it all now, I was just really miffed at how well I was doing and then BAM that run was the worst yet, but I will take all the good advice you have all given me and get back on it πŸ˜€

One of those bad runs, I had one a couple of weeks back I think it was week 5 and felt really bad about it, but the advice to me was just put it behind you and move forward and that's just what I did

so I'm going to pass that same advice on to you, don't beat yourself up, shrug it off, best foot forward and onwards and upwards

mizz_happy profile image
mizz_happyGraduate in reply to rolysmate

Thank you I'm taking all the advice in and I will put it behind me πŸ˜€

Just slow down... simple as that! Slow and steady... that is all it takes...:)

Some runs are like that...but, next time out... just start slow, relax into the run and go with the run.... :)

Turn the negativity into positivity.... know you can do it....but slowly :)

mizz_happy profile image
mizz_happyGraduate in reply to Oldfloss

Thank you, I will definitely be going slower next time out, although not too sure as my boxer dog will want to πŸ˜‚ I will be holding his leader a little tighter on my next run πŸ˜€

Interested that you're running with a dog. Does he cooperate usually? Is he an incentive to get out and run? Also, well done for getting to w7 - as someone else said you're further from the couch than the finish line. There's some quote or other about only indulging in glumness or victorious feelings briefly - it's the overall journey that counts. And you sound committed, which is brilliant.

mizz_happy profile image
mizz_happyGraduate in reply to Gillma

Hi thank you, yes he cooperates with me he's been with me on every run and loves it, it was something I've always wanted to do with him, great exercise for the both of us πŸ˜€

I had a nightmare with this one too. This week I did week 7 again and actually managed it! Sometimes I guess you just have to write off a sh*t run and crack on. Try it again.. maybe have the weekend off? I guarantee you'll smash it 😊

mizz_happy profile image
mizz_happyGraduate in reply to Englishmum

You're completely right I'm going to write this one off and just try again and if I have to repeat this week then so be it, I'm in no rush πŸ˜€

My friend and i did a W4R2 and it was the worst run we ever did, our breathing was all out of control and we couldn't get a rhythm going and ended up walking back ends of the runs. But w4r3 completely different. Couldnt believe we actually ran 5 mins without stopping 3 times lol.. i nearly gave up when i struggled to run 60 seconds lol. Just forget it, move on and look forward to the next run. Don't let it knock your confidence you can do it 😊
