I am a 46 year old male. Yes I am a 46 year old Grandad !

I lost 2.5 st a few years back and kept it off for two years. Whilst losing weight I got into spinning, the gym and cycling but that was after I had already shifted 2 stone. I used the exercise as I suddenly felt able to. Then about 4 years ago we moved to this lovely village where on our doorstep (literally) we had lovely pubs and restaurants. We quickly made loads of friends and our social life went ballistic but mostly involved frequent trips to the pub. The trips to the gym and spinning ceased !

Needless to say the pounds have crept on and have just returned from holiday to find that I am now about 16lbs heavier than when we first came to the village ! My wife started running again back in Jan and regularly runs 10-15k (she's 53 and amazing) and so I decided to use her as inspiration and have just started C25K.

I have NEVER been a runner. Only running I ever did was when at school (forced) and when playing football (badly) up until about 20 years ago and I am really chuffed to have just completed week 1 and am really keen to start week 2 which I aim to do tomorrow. By the end of Wk1 R3 I had already noticed an increase in my pace and the next morning for the first time no soreness in the muscles in my legs.

I am determined to complete this programme and to be running my first 5k the week after my next birthday in September.

I already feel addicted to running. Who ever would have thought that ? Not me !

Mike

Good for you Mike, is 46 year olds need to keep ourselves healthy 🙂

My other half is a runner as well and does half marathons so I know how you feel, that was some of the drive to get me moving.

Congrats on getting through week 1, if you think you're addicted now just you wait!
