My 1st 20 minutes running.. Cant bloody believe it!

So last night I achieved my 1st full 20 minutes running/shuffling what ever lol.

To think back 5 weeks ago I was terrified at the thought of slogging it out for 8 minutes with walking breaks and here I am today still living off the feeling that I, ME the unfit fit smoker completed 20 minutes continuously running I am so proud of myself.

Got a sore hip today though and have no idea why? Any ideas?

Whoop whoop, well done! This is the run that makes you feel like a proper runner 🙂

About the hip - make sure you stretch after every run and have you got proper running shoes?

Your right I did feel like a runner.

Yes got the running shoes but I have not had my gait analysed yet (I didnt think I was doing enough time/distance for it to matter yet).

Im very new to running so not sure on what stretches to do to release the hips, the leg ones are standard to most exercises.

I love this stretch, been doing it for years even when not running :)

Feels good doesn't it? Well done.

I'm doing W6R1 today and still a bit high from the 20mins 2 days ago. Yesterday both my hips were sore and really stiff. I don't think I followed my own advice of looking forward with my head up and not looking at the floor.

If yours is one sided and doesn't settle you could have a capsulitis which would need rest but I suspect it is a combination of using "new" muscles and posture.

It feels great such a high..

It is one sided and feels tender like stiffness. Ill keep going and see how it goes.

Tender and stiffness sounds like mine yesterday and I am going to run today. Mind you doctors are bad patients! - seriously mine feels OK this am so yours should not hold you back but do try to keep you head up, I'm sure it makes a difference.

Go, go, go!!

Your hip probably hurts because you just ran for twenty minutes!!

Gait analysis shows how your feet contact the ground with each stride. There are a variety of issues it can expose and then, if necessary, you can try on various types of support shoes to see which correct any unwanted rotation of the foot.

I would not worry too much about it unless it persists.

Keep running, keep smiling, fellow runner.

That is amazing! I am only on week 2 and doing the 90 second intervals. Hard to imagine going from that to 20 minutes :o
