W8R1 Tough, but feeling good!

It was a really warm run tonight, I appreciated the shade and the odd breeze I came across as I went. I did struggle a bit with this one (I think it was mainly the heat), but I picked up the pace for the last minute and finished on a high. It's great to know that even though I feel like my legs are going to crumble under me, I can still push on a bit if I try hard enough. Hopefully I'll be able to do the different training podcasts to challenge myself when I've graduated - it feels like a real possibility now.

I've never been a competitive person in my life, and I'm discovering I do actually enjoy a challenge!

Oh - and for some reason my profile photo won't rotate so I'm all wonky!

You are beginning to realise the possibilities.........well done.

If you put your photo in some editing software, you will see that the orientation is the way you took it with your camera/phone. Rotate, save, then put it back on the forum.......unless you prefer being sideways.

I reckon you need to look into parkrun, where the competitor in you can blossom with hundreds of other runners, but where you will in fact be racing against yourself.

Keep running, keep smiling.

I was talking to my occasional running partner about a parkrun to mark my graduation. It would be nice - there are a few fairly close to home.

Lol - I did try rotating the pic via my laptop, and although I rotated it 1/4 and saved it, when I tried to upload it, it was still wonky, but in the opposite direction. I don't mind being wonky until I can sort it out!

My first post grad run was a park run and I really enjoyed it 🙂

Wonky is fine... nearly there now, so keep it slow and steady :)

Wow. Well done to you. I can't seem to keep going after week 7 I have only managed one 25 min run and 5 very short ones. It is inspiring to hear you pushing on to the next weeks. Brilliant!

Thank you! I wasn't sure at the start, how I'd get on in the later weeks. I decided quite early on that I wouldn't stop just because it gets uncomfortable - that was the problem with my attitude towards exercise up until now. It isn't supposed to be easy - but it is achievable. If it wasn't, so many people wouldn't be doing it! If I push myself with the pace of the programme, I'm finding each step is falling into place.

Try to start each run on a positive note - think that you can - you've made it this far, there isn't much to go!

Well done! I also did W8R1 this evening and like you, I found it really tough - the humidity seems to make everything harder! But only 5 runs to go - we can do this! 🏅🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏅
