My daughter has no thyroid function at all and runs well.

I used to be overactive and had radiation treatment so am now underactive and on thyroxine, there are a few of us on here with thyroid conditions so ask away, we will help if we can. My doctor has been very supportive of me running.

I have an underactive thyroid. No running so far. Have you any particular questions?

Hypothyroid here as well, despite being in Levo and my levels allegedly being fine Imstill get the associated joint and muscle pain and fatigue, running actually seems to help though provide I pick the right moments.

Ask away! I'm an underactive and never even thought about not running. Aches and pains seem to be ever decreasing for me...xx

Hi everyone thanks for your messages, a little history about my thyroid....

I first had an overactive thyroid condition post pregnancy and was eventually diagnosed with the auto immune condition called hashimotos disease. Since then my thyroid has been under control but dr's told me eventually the white cells filtrate the thyroid causing the thyroid to shut down, therefore eventually I would go under active.

Since exercising my resting heart rate has dropped from 87 to 46 but no others symptoms apart from a mood that seems to be, half empty glass rather than half full if you understand me and really dry skin and hair, could this be a sign it's going under?

You need to ask the specialists of course, but as an underactive, I have dry skin and get Cetraban on prescription which helps that. I take 100mg of Levo a day.

Why not have a look at the Happiness Challenge over on the Weightloss forum and try and turn that glass around.

Everyone must be affected differently, because both my friend and I are underactive, but I'm a fatty and she's a skinny..xx

Unfortunately because it's been clinically suppressed, I don't have a dedicated specialist at the moment, trying to get re-referred is nightmare! But I shall be persistent haha!

That's interesting about you and your friend. I was skinny when mine was overactive obviously!

Thanks for the advice though :) greatly appreciated

I have 'subclinical' hypothyroidism. Hasn't stopped me running a half marathon earlier this year but I have had real trouble throwing off a couple of viruses and have now been referred to endocrinologist to see if I should try Levothyroxine. I do have a few other potential symptoms so am hoping to have a positive outcome. Might even make me a bit faster!😉
