If your doing C25K in this heat you are doing well.

Even the most experienced runner will get a bit flustered in the sort of heat we are having in UK at the moment so if you are going through the program give yourself a big pat on the back for sticking with it through the heat and secondly remember that it will be a bit harder in this heat so go easy on yourself if you feel like you are struggling, most runners are right now.

I've just been out and usually on a Sunday I see many runners out and about and it was sparse viewing today, so either they went out really early or the heat was just too much.

Here is a link to a really good BBC program about how to spot heat exhaustion.

Take good care of yourselves and run safe.

I'm afraid I have had to curb my running whilst in Spain.......having a heat wave here. So I've opted for swimming and long evening walks!

It's too hot to run today I'd say having just turned out myself. I left my drink in the car. Again! Doh!!

Glad I did it but sheesh. I should have left it til later but I wanted to get it done in case I got busy at the plot and then too tired, so I went for it.

You must take a drink and go very slowly! I took a big hankie, and wore a wrist band, so I kept wiping myself brow and face as the sweat gets in your eyes and runs off your chin. It's like you're leaking.

Take care out there!

A couple of years ago when the husband and I were in the US on a motorbike holiday, I bought a cooling necker. Basically moisture retaining granules enclosed in some fabric. It worked pretty well, but it leaked a lot of crystals last winter so I had to bin it. I keep meaning to have a look for something similar to replace it.

It stings too when the sweat gets into your eyes..!

Blimey go you..getting out in this warmth!

Well said RFC, I've had a 10k event today and even experienced seasoned runners have been caught out.....nothing wrong in walking, cooling down, taking plenty of water......the distance still counts...

Stay well all...

Thanks Millsie-J , I'm fine thank you, right warm that was, hottest I've done to date! (And it's still getting hotter!) lots of walking, but was full sun for a lot of it, still, bling bagged...😄, I recommend a little water spray, first time I've used it and it went down a treat! I don't think I've ever been so soggy!

Organisers were fab, had water buckets with sponges too - great idea...

Go you.. super Madge! I can see you flying along spraying yourself like mad and loving every moment!

Phew! Well it was more walking than running, but the aim was to get round safely. The spray really did make a difference. There was a herd of red polls that decided to charge across the route, luckily they did it in a gap, and I'm glad it was before I got to that point, I could see them up ahead.....😱

Thanks for that! This one is a more list like version of the same info beta.nhs.uk/conditions/heat... and also has a useful comparison chart.

I was out at 6am and could probably have done with being out even earlier.

Thanks Rfc... I got out early and it was warm then, and although just a short 5K, I took water.. and was glad of it.. also paddled in the sea at the end of my run:)

Take care everyone... running or walking :) x

So warm, even early...I was almost tempted to take my top off this morning on my last 1K across the beach and run in my sports bra.. but alas Ju-ju... I have neither your youth, or your figure :) x.

I'm afraid my t-shirt was discarded at the end of my run.......it was rather wet.......so there I was in shorts and sports bra.(it is a fetching shade of purple....) ...couldn't give a monkeys at that point in time...and I'm not that svelte in the middle! 😂

Queued up for an ice cream and coffee with sweat running down my back, thinking.......oh dear.....but no one ran a way screaming.....😱😂

I've seen worse going round Tesco's......😂......be brave....it's only a body, you see more (or worse 😉) on a beach

Lots of warriors on here!

A weekend in Durham (very nice but a bit Leary on a Saturday night....)

Mr Wheels has the BBQ fired up and I am taking a few days off running (still walking and swimming though) until the mercury drops a little. I want to run but I know I won't do well in this heat! ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ good luck and take care all 🏃🏃‍♀️🏃🏃‍♀️

My niece is doing ironman (woman) in US heat; puts my achievements in perspective 😐

Amen. Hot summer days are for the slowest of runs and generous walk breaks. Consider taking some dilute sports drink or WHO's oral rehydration therapy along. And there's nothing wrong with a sit in the shade

Totally agree... bit of a twingy calf after this morning's run... so rest day and chill tomorrow :) Quite glad as it is going to be hot... maybe a dip in the sea:)

I had my 5k Race for Life today & am so pleased with myself for jogging the whole lot & somehow doing it in 33:40. I did start to feel woozy after about 3k though & think that was the heat as I also didn't want to try any more water at that point. But I did it. And a marathon runner friend of mine said that he wouldn't have run in this heat, not with an 11am start anyway!

Well done to all of us making it through.

Well done and great that you were aware enough to look after yourself and finish your event safely. Great time too 👍🏻.

Got to admit I've not done this evening's run :( I've been feeling a bit headachy much of the day, so really didn't think that 25 mins of exertion would help! And even at 9.30pm when I took the dogs out for a bit of a walk it was still 24C... That's warm!
