Had a gait assessment. New trainers. New foam roller. Just completed W2R2 and it was all so much better, I ran happier and I ran faster!

Thank so much everyone for all the love, advice and support. Watch this space!

Lovely new shoes 😃👍

Take care with the roller. Do not roll inflamed tissue. Knees should not be rolled either. Roll up to and away from

There are good guidance clips on t'internet

Thanks misswobble. They guy in the shop gave me some tips and said about going on YouTube for videos on what to do.

Is inflamed tissue when it hurts but isn't a pulled muscle please? 🙂

And did you see your GP too? Sarah? Curious as to how they treated you!

Sarahwee profile image
Sarahwee in reply to RebeccaSK

She is a runner!! Yey!! She was fine and only said a heavier runner might have more issues with their shin splints but that's true so I have no issue with it.

Def was better going in and stating all my achievements up front so she knew where I was coming from. 👍😎

Of course. Too many people (and I think I've done this myself) have a pre-prepared list of excuses as to why, basically, they aren't prepared to help themselves. So many patients want a solution where the GP does all the work, writes a prescription for a magical solution and all they have to do is swallow a pill. As soon as GPs know that YOU are putting in blood, sweat and tears you will find their attitude completely different - apart from the ones that are just permanently arrogant. There's no helping those!

You'll know inflamed tissue if you touch it with a foam roller. They'll be peeling you off the ceiling 😁

Foam rollers!!! If they had foam in the middle ages they would have used them for torture

misswobble profile image

I only used it as instructed by the physio. I haven't used i since. They are not needed routinely. If they are sommat's amiss I would have thought

Hi, thanks for posting this - very interested in the gait assessment. Where can you get this done please? Many thanks

Hey! I went to a chain called "Up and running". They have branches all over (I went to the Oxford branch). It took less than five mins, was free and was really good. I've since used my new trainers twice and am definitely in less pain and running easier. Good luck with it! 👍😁
