👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🐢🐢 You don't have to be great to start, but you do have to start to be great.

Well done getting out there. Take it really slow, aim to be overtaken by everybody and everything for the first three weeks, that includes mobility scooters, kids, octogenarian, dogs and fellow tortoises. Believe me you will look back at this week fondly and proudly in just a few days, weeks.

Trust this forum, trust the program and trust yourself.

Embrace your inner tortoise and keep us posted.👍🏼😀🏃🏻🐢

If I were you and I had a park run near me and a goal to run it in nine weeks, I would register today, contact the volunteer coordinator and get involved. You will see how it works, how slow some people are (it's not just you!!) , and without putting any ( more) pressure on you, will make your goal seem much closer. They will welcome you with open arms and when you explain you are new to running, give you a job that is appropriate.

Good luck and keep posting😀😀😀😀

I found the first run a shock too. It made me realise I was doing the right thing. I now see the bigger picture and starting week 4, being red faced and sweaty makes me feel great now, whereas this time last year even the thought of breaking a sweat filled me with a sense of dread. Go at your own pace and be proud of yourself 😃
