So I first posted on here about 4 weeks ago as a 20stone incredibly unfit yet eager fatty who couldnt run up the stairs without collapsing. I am pleased to say I am now a 19stone incredibly unfit yet more eager fatty who has completed week 3 very successfully and is about to start week 4! Great advice and support on here thanks all.

Bit apprehensive about week 4. It jumps from 9 mins total running to 16. Gulp. Will try my best though!! Can't believe I'm motivated to run now. It's hard but I love this programme. Xxx

Just remember - you may be running on your own but you never run alone :) We are all cheering you all the way :)

Mate i started a wheezing 18 stone 2 and now 17.6 at week 9. Not a lot of weight lost you might think but im so much fitter within 3 months. And i eat crap still so no suprise. :) ITs daunting but once you get there youll wonder what the fuss was about. good luck .

Just cut the c*** out of your eating and you will feel even more amazing than you do now... well done !!!

to be honest im much better than i was but i have the pallet of a 12 year old and i do try. :) The fact i lost some pounds at all means im better than this time last year by a considerable amount. :) And like I always say , this is only 3 months . I intend to go for some time yet. :) A lot of obstacles to work through. The only way is forward.

Inspiring attitude! So good to look back to your starting point and realise that you're heading gradually in the right direction

Just about keeping going. Just because your body hasn't changed in 3 months doesn't mean it won't in 6 and so on. Either way better this than the couch life before right? :)

The healthy eating is the toughest part of all this for me. I will never complain about not losing weight unless I get that part under control, which I haven't yet.

It's actually a much tougher mental challenge for me than the running for some reason.

I try and fail every time - unlike the running.

I feel your pain, but congratulations on your weight loss, thus far. Long may it continue.

I started not so terribly overweight, but 30 years into a two pack a day habbit. I've lost a little weight, and all the cigs. Stick with it! I just did the first run for week 4 and it wasn't near as much of a hurt machine as I thought it was going to be!

Fantastic. Reading your story has given me inspiration. I started the couch to 5 and gave up after wk 2. I found it so difficult to, but will soldier on

Thanks so much. I hope your run went well. My second run on week 3 was shocking. And even though I though a snail might overtake me I kept going and it was so worth it. Sometimes when u r ready to drop or u can't be bothered to go out and do it just do it regardless. It's so worth the feeling u get once you've done it! Good luck x

Well done on your runs and your amazing weight loss in 3 weeks 😃. I have lost a lot of weight healthy eating and maintained it for 6 years. I now want to be able to run so started the programme last Monday with my hubby. I would like to lose a little more weight but have gained this week 😔 is this normal?

gotalongwaytogo profile image

Have just been reading up on this. I know how disheartening it can be to diet properly, follow a fitness programme (like couch 2 5k) and not see the results on the scales. When it happens to me I feel like throwing it away BUT Don't do it! After 4-12 weeks of maintaining and not seeing loses your body will become accustomed to your new fitness regime and will release all of the bad stuff your body kept hold of (in the fear it wouldn't see them again) and u will see a dramatic loss in a short space of time. Holding on to weight when u start exercise is just your bodies natural coping mechanism and I know how bad it feels but stick with it. It'll come (in inches if not on the scales!) xx

Thank you SO much for this post I was starting to get disheartened (wasn't going to stop but try and come to terms with it). Didn't realise it would take that long. You have made my day 😃😃🎉

Hi TJEL just checking in. Any loss on the scales yet? I'm doing all the right things but go up and down on scales. I have found though that drinking lots of waters helps with weight loss. I didn't believe this but the water kick starts the metabolism in the morning and then the fat burning starts. So...drink!! I'm starting week 6 tomorrow! Hope all going well x

I too will be tackling Week 4 tomorrow, and while I may not be carrying your weight, you are not breathing with my hopeless lungs ( which I am still convinced are allergic to running) or a fused ball joint on right foot. We each approach this program with our own unique challenges. We support each other and somehow we all find different routes to the finish line.

Let's do this, slow as you go, keep running, keep posting and keep smiling🐢🏃🏼‍♀️🐢🏃🏼‍♀️🐢👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Ps I totally get the eating thing, no matter how excited I am about my progress I can't cut out the biscuits etc.
