Hi how is everyone doing on this easter quest?

I've named the Quest the,' Run Rabbit Run Easter Quest,' because I think its about time the Easter bunny got fit!!!! That way he can eat more chocolate, so its a win win for him!!

What the quest is:-

The quest takes six weeks.

You can join any time within that six weeks.

The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

I ask that you are a graduate . The main reason I ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured so I wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:-

To run three times a week

To slowly increase distance

To train for a specific race

To add In Stretch and strength exercises

As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.

Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.

So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put

I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............

Your name will be added for the duration of the Quest.

Good Luck everybody !

I made my target by running 15 km yesterday. So well-pleased. The gremlins are having a hard time at the moment, I find if I go out with a fixed distance in my mind I can make it. Not a step further though!

Brilliant, well done 😎

Fab, JaySee! You are doing so well with these distances :) I had intended to do the same thing but then work was too busy and now I am looking at a 10k event on Sunday so don't think I can do a long run this week as well :O

It was now or never! We have a couple of social things coming up at weekends and I know it will be difficult to get long runs in. So it was either Sunday or fail in my Quest! Didn't feel like it at all, but it went remarkably well!

Very pleased with week 1 of my Quest. Achieved my target of running 3 times. 1st run was 5k on a treadmill in 31.5 mins. Runs 2 and 3 were outside runs of 30mins. It's great having a long weekend - time to relax and run. 🌻🌻

Well done, good going 😎

5k last week. 32miles walked. 101 locks operated. Only 2 pubs visited. 😂

One more week on holiday, then work beckons.

ju-ju- profile image

That sounds hardcore... and fun! Well done 😎

Anniemurph profile image

I reckon 101 locks must be doing wonders for your core!

If only there were less pubs.....or I had some will power 😂

It's nice to be out and about though. No driving to worry about, just not falling in the canal on the way back from the pub.

I went running 4 times last week and it felt good! I keep increasing the time so now I'm at 40 minutes.

Went to the gym twice as well even though I really didn't feel like it. I never do to be honest :D But I think I'll benefit from the strength training in the long run.

I'm doing ok! Did Parkrun on Saturday, so Parkrun AND planned 5k done this week. Got another 5k planned tomorrow as part of my 10k training for mid May, (I want to keep the 10k distance as a pretty regular occurrence if I can)! I have also started another MyAsics plan to help me do that. I love a plan 😍

Still doing my yoga. Lots of walking going on too now that I have officially taken early retirement...... such a luxury to have free time!

Big news for me is......I have registered for a 10 mile race in time for my 61st birthday. Not till March 2018 so I WILL be ready eeekkk. Not quite sure how that happened............

Please count me in!! for this 6 wk period, my goal is to Score the Trifecta each week (x6 weeks!): C25k+ podcasts - each week do the Stamina once, the Speed once and even the Stepping Stone (I hear that's not fun!) once.

Millsie-J profile image
Millsie-JGraduate in reply to RuNananana

Stamina is v difficult if you have a slow pace like me! 😩

RuNananana profile image
RuNanananaGraduate in reply to Millsie-J

But I'm soooo not fast - or I thought I weren't! Interesting...

Millsie-J profile image
Millsie-JGraduate in reply to RuNananana

Aaahhh but its all relative. I find all three hard, tbey want me to run too fast ( for me). But Stamina is the worst of the three for me. You will probably be ok with all of them 😀

RuNananana profile image
RuNanananaGraduate in reply to Millsie-J

We shall see! :-) Stamina was challenging for me!

Hiya. I'm in.. Great initiative!!

Biggest issue for me is commiting to 3 times a week.

So count me in for 3 times a week please..

By the way delighted to confirm that I have now graduated for the second time. Thanks in no small part to everyone on here plus Laura of course!!!

If I could have my second time graduate badge please that would be great...

Aside from all the eating element of Easter and my weight loss goal (negative progress), the holiday has been a great boost to my Quest goals.

10,000 steps on three days

More items on my Things To Do list ticked off (some weren't actually on the list already but added after being done - still in the spirit of the thing!) One in particular though was definitely on the list - it was the second to be added when I first started making a note of things I'd like to do, places I'd like to go back in 2013. And we really enjoyed it!

Surprisingly, haven't done a bike ride (but did lend my cycle shorts to my son!). Did go swimming but it wasn't a very satisfactory experience - only clocked up 300 metres towards my 3km goal!

I hope everyone has been really enjoying themselves, whether in pursuit and achievement of their Quest goals or not.

It's really not been a great week generally or Quest-wise. I managed one run rather than the 2-3 I want to be doing. And unsurprisingly, that one was about just escaping the tension and toxic atmosphere at home rather than setting any particular distance records. On the bright side, Mr Fitbit is definitely keeping me highly motivated with increasing my daily steps. Not only have I managed 10 000 steps daily, but I'm usually over 12k - and even at 18k once or twice a week! So that's that quest target doing well anyway.

And it's not a quest target, but I have managed to lost a pound or two it seems. Yay. Baby steps... ;)

Erm - did Parkrun. That's it.

SueF1 profile image

I said that I would like to go further on each lap of the parkrun before walking. On Saturday I managed to run the whole way which Amazed not only just of but husband/daughter/boyfriend and friends who also ran. Mind you the volunteers were giving out chocolates and sweets at the end so that may have also been an incentive.

I've come off the Asics plan but I still ran three times last week. Knee is behaving 😊 and I'm upping the stretching and exercises. I have a 10K race in May and I haven't run that distance since December because of my knee so I'm thinking I should probably do it again before race day so am building up the mileage.

Have a great week questers and to everyone on the IC or unable to run, remember to keep the faith, always.

Count me in! I thought I was in but apparently not 🙂

Anyway, training for May races, both punishingly hilly! Pulling in an earlier race on Sunday. Avoiding Parkrun as I don't want to irritate my dodgy heel by going too fast, which I tend to do at Parkrun

Event this weekend! Medals in the offing! 🏅If one finishes that is. it's a trail race! I am doing a planned 7k this morning, got another one later in the week, and a shorter one midweek. Jog group too hopefully. Walking Wednesday and Thursday with the borrowed dog.

Keep moving folks 🙂 By the way Stepping Stones are ace! Do them inside out 😃 Get them off pat.

Is it the Longhorn? If so, we must work out how to meet up somehow! I'll never catch you on the way round so a start photo would be good :D

I am building up nicely now. I got into such a rhythm with one of my walks last week that it activated the muscles on my sides. I must been holding myself for the last three weeks as they didn't half ache the next day 😀 But a very positive step forward.

Glad all is going well RFC.

Just after transplant my daughter went back to her beloved Rock Choir. She said she really could feel the controlled breathing using the diaphragm (as singers do! ), had worked her torso muscles significantly. Her clinical team said they had no idea singing might hurt......first person who had given them this feedback in clinic teehee!

Did Sunday run for about 45 minutes and just over 6K. My progress towards 8K and 5 mile will have to wait. So Have to take my own advice and remind myself "Where's the fire !".

Think reported last time that I have a pain in my heel like a bruised type of pain. Suspect have dreaded PF (Plantar Fasciitis). Have read reports here. Really painful in morning but ease off during day. Have had the pain over a week and have run OK . However pain is not going away. Hate idea of not running for a week but no option. I am going to :-

1) Not run for a week.

2) Do Exercises , Heel raising, Rolling and calf stretches.

3) Around house walking in old cumfy trainers with slight heel.

4) Return to running do Friday run to work 4 1/4K and perhaps on a Tuesday.

Then see how it is and take from there.

Any other advice would be appreciated.

Cooooeeee Annie! Yep, that's the one. You roped me in 😀 We have to register so I will be there, by the bogs or the coffee van/stall ☕ I think I will be wearing a coral hooded top. Deffo a jog derbyshire buff round my ears. Pink carnation 😃 I should be with my OH who will probably wearing a black quilted Barbour jacket.

Will wait til the day before deciding on long or short tights ☺

Onto second week of my 5-10K programme. It's fun although I've had a couple of two day gaps with the very full on holiday season here in Thailand, enjoyable tho it has been. Back to normal this week, means we can walk down the road without being drenched by buckets of water, hosepipes etc! Next run is a fast one so that should be interesting, let's see how it goes...Hope everyone else is enjoying their personal challenges 🏃🏼‍♀️😊💦

Still running 3 times a week, not always 5k though but that's ok because I am out there running - having to motivate First Born to run so running slower & short paces to help her get out. On my solo runs, I have started to include hills regularly in my runs now which is a real challenge. I have a fun run for Ty Hafan children's hospice on 29th April so have started practicing running on our local beach in preparation for it. Still loving running (well, after the first 10 minutes I do :D :D )

ju-ju- I would like to join the quest. My aim is to run 3 times a week and also to do at least one (but ideally two) pilates sessions a week (in addition to my physio stretches every day) if that's ok.

I did a recce for my race, I tried the first massive hill which is 170 MT over 5 KM up to the hang gliding point, that didn't seem to difficult, so next run I did the really steep climb up to the top of the old town, 90 MT's over 850 MT's if you know what I mean - that was hard but manageable, so I'm fairly confident about the race. It won't be fast, it's very hard with rocky trails, and wonky old cobblestones, but I'm looking forward to it enormously! 3 weeks to go...
