Morning all. Wish me luck as I lace up the running shoes today for the first time in just over two weeks. I'm feeling quite apprehensive actually. After finally conquering week four I was zapped by yet another virus - this time laryngitis. No voice and a lousy cough which hurt so much my whole rib cage was aching. My GP said NO TALKING until my larynx was fully recovered. That was some challenge! My day job is in teaching and I'm also a chorister. And I also do a bit of lecturing. So for someone like me to not yap or sing was some challenge. By last week my throat situation was improving and I decided to resume c25k duties on the weekend just past. But then I took a tumble at school - I fell into an invisible hole and twisted my left ankle (not too badly fortunately) and landed heavily on my right knee, which is still bruised and sore. BUT...today is the first day of the school holidays and normal service is about to resume. I think I'll re-do week 4 yet again and let you all know later on how I got on/survived.

Slow and steady does it. Always a bit scary heading out after being on the IC...but listen to your body and you will be fine :)

Totally empathise with the throat bit...I was a teacher, and did two years longer than I should have, with voice and throat issues... I finally retired when my consultant said that I was in danger of permanently losing my voice; scar tissue on larynx and no voice for most of the time! He said take retirement or get another consultant.I took retirement. It took two years to come back to normal! So, yes listen to your Doctor...:)

Hope your voice, your ankle and your knee are okay... and go very steadily! Good luck you !

Hope you've had a good run (if you've been out now!)... Take it gently and ease back into it... :)

Woohoo, I did it. Week 4 run 1 (again!) Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I took it ve-e-e-e-ery slowly and I survived. I'm definitely more tortoise than hare anyway, and went extra slowly today, but I completed it and feel ok. YAY!
