Hi all,

Well that was a warm one! This is favourite of ours, (was the very first 'proper' 10k me and my OH did so we have a soft spot for it) very local, easy going, lovely track - mostly flat, off road. And when I say flat, in comparison to some other places, yes it is flatish, but for us softee southerner East Anglian sorts who can get a nose bleed climbing stairs, there are some 'hills' about 7k's worth......

Although the morning started off a bit cool, the sun was very warm, much of the track had no shade, so when there was a bit of cloud cover it was gratefully received!

Met up with millwalki8 at the starting pen, we were in the 'must try harder' slot where the estimated time boards run out....πŸ˜‚, Lots of jollity, and off we went - Millwalki actually scooted off in front, the little scamp.......but I think the heat got to both of us needing walking breaks etc.,

Anyway, we made it, photo of millwalki8, me and my OH, triumphant, but a tad warm at the end πŸ˜‚.

I did this in 1hr 10 last year, think I may have got 1hr 09, I'll be very happy with that given how warm it was.....

A good day, and always a treat to meet up with fellow C25K'ers.....it'll be in the diary again for next year πŸ˜‰ (Which will be its 10th anniversary, so I'll be expecting some fancy bling! πŸ˜‰)

Happy running all πŸ˜„

Congrats to you all. Looking fabulous and so happy! Loved the write-up. Now I'm off to sulk because we don't get bling in France.

You're just going to have to sort them out over there mfam, this really won't do.......of course there is wine.....but I'd expect a case for all that effort.....πŸ˜‰......and only the bubbly stuff too...🍾

My first HM will be rewarded with a T-shirt and a bottle of white wine. Then I'll celebrate with all the friends who will be running various distances the same day :)

Well done you guys! πŸ₯‡Madge, you must have quite a collection of bling now, you seem to be runnning events every week at the moment - a great inspiration to us all!! I know how much the heat can sap your energy too, so well done on that time. Rest up well, now πŸ™‚

Madge50 profile image
Madge50Graduate in reply to Sandraj39

Thanks Sandra.......well, yes, we've got quite a stash! Trouble is, you then want more......πŸ˜‰.....and there's always people handing out leaflets for other runs.....πŸ˜‚ It's funny, the only thing that's stopped us registering for at least two more is, one, we're on holiday and the other, we've actually got another event we've already signed up for πŸ˜‚

We've got about one a month through to October, but the 100 parkrun shirt will be within grasp by the end of the year......can't miss out on that.....πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜„

Addicted? Obsessed? Me? Never! πŸ˜‚

Thanks Floss! Ha, ha, we've got cork pin boards with photos and hooks for the bling......home made type thing.......they're in a back room, that my daughter calls the 'winning room' as it's got all the posh graduation photos as well.....πŸ˜‚, anything and everything is in there, including my daughters first grading certificate that she's just got for kick boxing (she's 26......) πŸ˜‚

Well done all of you. I was thinking of you today as I was kneeling amongst the borders thinking how hot it was! I hate running in the heat so hats off to you.

That's a lovely photo too but I can't really see the bling close up ☹️

Severe apologies your royal highness, bows very low.....I've replaced the photo......πŸ˜„......actually the medals are different colours each year, and it's really nice to have the year, and date on the ribbon.

Great to meet up again Madge (and Rik). I'm sure the hill gets bigger each year.

Hay fever has hit me like a train this afternoon, best get the spray out.

See you next year πŸ˜€

Yes, for some reason, I thought there was only one hill......πŸ€”....selective memory.....πŸ˜‚

Good to see you and Mrs Millwalki, and miss Millwalki - she did take a good photo πŸ˜„

Yep, can't miss next year, it'll be their 10 year anniversary, we'll look forward to it.

Take good care of yourself and yours.

Hmmm, I could have sworn someone told me it was a completely flat route...

Madge50 profile image
Madge50Graduate in reply to Curlygurly2

Ha ha! Well it is compared to lots of other off road 'races'......πŸ˜‰...... And it doesn't seem to show on the 'elevation' bit on the garmin........or maybe that's just mine.....πŸ€”.....all in your head.....πŸ˜‚

Brilliant time Madge, very well done. May have to think about doing this one next year x

Edit: just realised you said you did it in 1:09 *and* you took walking breaks for the heat!! Fantastic! 1:09 would be great if you run all the way!

Madge50 profile image
Madge50Graduate in reply to AncientMum

Hi AM, my 'official' time was 1hr 10..and a few seconds.....again....but my garmin made it 1hr 09....(with the seconds close to 1:10) I am very happy with that though, would have liked to have 'officially' ducked under the 1:10, the heat did take me by surprise a bit.....😝

It is a lovely event and it is getting busier, lots of support, lovely marshals......and despite those inclines, undulations or whatever you want to call them.....the paths themselves are very flat, no ruts, the water station is usually manned by families, the kids love being part of it and handing out the water, it's a real community event, highly recommended. They pick a different local charity to support each year too.

Perhaps I can convince you to come next year.......😊

I'm certainly more than happy to be convinced :)

Wahey ! Really Well done to you all, yes it was a tad warm here yesterday too.

You all did absolutely marvellous and Madge you must be awash with bling this year alone !

Great write up and photo, you all look fab ! :-) xxx

Good job, all of you. Very well done, especially if it was hot. Great happy photo too.

(And because I believe every day is a school day I've just googled to see where Cambourne is. Being Scottish, there are lots of bits of Englandshire that I still need to learn the whereabouts of!)

Madge50 profile image
Madge50Graduate in reply to AnneDroid

Hi Anne, yes, it's a fairly new build 'village/small town' (15 - 20 or so years old) often confused with Camborne in Cornwall..........people usually take the mickey out of East Anglia, as yes, a lot of it is very flat, but there certainly are some hilly bits, granted not as much as 'oop north' . Most of the local trail runs seem to find them though...πŸ˜„
