A decent walk!

Officially on the IC but it was SUCH a fantastic day. Used the local Parkrun course to do a 5K walk, wonderful, so glad I did it. Couldn't help but think, though, that running it rather than walking it is still a bit of a pipedream ....

Saw this today and loved it:

We all need dreams and goals. You CAN do this!

It has rained here most of the day...

I like the inspiring people quote...Just wish I could inspire myself.

Several years ago now i bought a cheap mountain bike - the first bike i owned since the one with stabilisers on... As i got a bit fitter Mr Pip felt inspired by me riding that he, in his late 40s and at about 23 stone , decided to learn , for the first time ever , how to ride a bike. Since then he now rides far more than me, fire to the gym and also come swimming with me. And with healthier eating he had suddenly this past year started dropping the weight too and bits of him are disappearing...I'm please to have inspired part of that... Inspiring the bike learning and the swimming too 🏊

I've been walking my Parkrun route as well. While I'd rather be running it, I've gotten a new appreciation for the scenery at a slower pace.

It was a beautiful walk. The park's pretty, loads of families about, with the bonus that people even talk and smile at lunatics who are power walking alongside the little lake..... I can at least dream that one day I could run it

You will do it if you set your mind to it 🙂 It's 5k! By completing C25k you will be ready to successfully complete Parkrun. Good idea to walk it gently while on the injury bench though. Have fun 😀

I hope you're soon back on it and firing on all cylinders.

Just walking Parkrun I still wouldn't have been quite last!!!!! I may just "cheat" a little bit on Saturday and ignore my IC instructions and slip in some jogging intervals whilst walking round the Parkrun course, even if they are very short intervals. It has to be on my own during the afternoon, because I can't make tomorrow's Parkrun start time - a shame because having discovered last week that it's not the scary experience I'd feared, I would have joined in and just walked it. Thanks for the encouragement, I'm still determined to get to the end and I WILL get there, but even so have to admit to being pretty demoralised - I've put in a lot of hard work in getting part way through the C25K programme twice now, yet still can't run much, wanting to stop (and actually stopping most times) almost as soon as I start running. It's infuriating, I can walk pretty briskly without a problem, I can row distance and training intervals in the gym ... do you know anyone who does brain transplant / gremlin murder on the NHS?

In the scheme of things it's only a short time that you began the programme and trying to walk more etc etc. When you are out the other side having successfully completed the programme - and are trotting happily around your parkrun course - you will see how far you've come in a relatively short space of time. It only seems interminable when we are in the thick of it and struggling. So, courage mon brave!

I don't do Gremlins so can't help you there. They don't exist! You know that don't you. LOL

Speaking of Parkrun, as we were, have you volunteered for the Tail Runner role? It's brilliant! It gives you an insight into why folks are at the back. There is all sorts going on back there that you wouldn't find out about unless you were there. Injuries, disabilities, all sorts of things which are all interesting to learn about to give you a snapshot of the folks you are run/ walking with. We have a goodly sized posse of a back pack at ours and Parkrun organisers now have a tail runner and a tail walker, so everyone is looked after.

As you get fitter and stronger your running will improve. Like everything else it takes practice. Stick at it!

OK, you don't do gremlins ... how about brain transplants? I'd like one similar to yours please, one that says gremlins don't exist and running's a good idea. Believe me I'm still "sticking at it", but getting pretty p***** off! I'm very bad at being patient.

Be a bit Zen then! Give yourself a break!

Body transformations don't happen over night. It's worth the effort! Believe me!

Lots of exclamation marks today. LOL
