Three runs this week, I did Speed on Monday and actually managed to do it without stopping for the first time - usually I end up having to walk some of the 150bpm bits, but this time Ikept it going if only just.... Then Wednesday I managed to go and do Stepping Stone, covering 4.2km in 30 minutes - fairly standard now, which means that my typical pace can probably be considered as closer to 7min/km - at the point I graduated it was more like 7:30! And tonight I've done my custom 35 minute version of Stepping Stone and covered 5km non-stop for the second time.
None of this has been in my Trail Runners however. They got rather muddy dong the parkrun at Erddig last weekend, and silly me I left them in a plastic bag for two days before remembering and putting them on my shoe rack to dry out. The smell! So bad that my son put an air freshner by them that smelt quite vile itself (like the pink liquid penecillin that you used to get) until Ifinally got round to giving them a proper handwash in the sink.... Ithink the footbeds still smell a bit, I suspect Imaybe after a can of Febreze shortly!
Still, it's going well, next up - some Hill Training.....

Ew, smelly shoes! Mine stank of hoss muck today. I left them in the hall to dry. Then they'll get banged together to knock the muck off
Hills are hard work. You could find the least steep one and start there, slowly! I know some folks do hill repeats but I never do. Once I get to the top I keep going. They are good at helping with fitness and they tighten up your mid section. As you run up a hill you can feel your abs are engaged.
Hills are a good way of measuring how much fitter you're getting
My teen daughters will keep on leaving their damp and muddy trainers in a carrier bag after they've had PE. Bleugh! If you find an effective way of deodorising them, do let me know!
Yay for the three runs though - sounds like it's going really well
This may sound really silly but by accident i found this: i store my running shoes in the utility on a shelf above my washing powder. My shoes smell lovely everytime i take them out of the cupboard! I do clean them as soon as i take them off mind you. I had a pressy of a Boot Buddy, you fill with water, take with you and clean your shoes 'on the field' . I love it, i take apair of shoes in the car to put on after the run. Or i clean in the garden in my return if running close to home. Whenever i use it following parkrun etc loads of people comment and ask where to get one. Amazon or Sports Direct 👍🏼😀
