W9R1 - Me and Drooling took Laura for a run

So, W9R1. What a wonderful day for a run. Not. The rain and hailstones came so thick and fast this afternoon I could hardly see the houses opposite. The gremlins said NO WAY and for once I agreed with them.

By 7 p.m. the black clouds were rolling out of view, leaving black skies filled with airplane lights, giving Laura and me a chance to get out. I have to confess I did actually say out loud "why are you doing this?" as I was putting on my trainers. There being no sane reply, I wrapped Laura in a plastic bag to protect her from rain, and went out into the dark.

Hills. Again. Sticking close to home as the black clouds rolled ominously back into view. It came as a bit of a surprise for me and Drooling to be re-acquainted - I even checked the podcast to see if it had jumped back to W8 - but nope, apparently we're an item now. Almost made me smile. Almost.

I added on a small loop at the beginning to accommodate the extra 2 minutes running ahead of me.

So, 5 minutes running went by, then 10, then 15, then 10 left, and with 5 minutes left Laura was telling me to take it easy - which came as a bit of a surprise because for once the legs and lungs were in agreement that I could keep going, so much so that when Laura told me it was time to stop and walk, I didn't. I slowed the pace but kept jogging until red traffic lights forced me to stop. After I crossed the road I slowed to walking pace but hadn't got far before Laura told me our time together was nearly up.

We still have two runs to go, but me and Drooling will miss her.

Traffic lights. 😤.

I just turn back and go for few meters and come back again. It ruins the breathing pace every time.

Yes, but then you miss out on the adrenaline rush as the green man lights up, you step off the pavement and a taxi decides the red light doesn't apply to him .....

Sounds like you're becoming super fit! You'll be jogging on to the podium, and then straight off again :p ...xx

If I was 30 years older I'd almost be eligible for a "good for age" medal!

So very true! I think the longer runs from the end of W6 train us to keep to a steady pace with small increments. Sneaky. Looking forward to treating W9 as a short easy run - didn't mind the music either.
