Hi and welcome to our new Quest please feel free to join.

Hope you all doing well and you working towards your Quest goals.

I've named the Quest Mad March tea party because when I think of names for March when the quest finishes I keep thinking of the Mad March hare from Alice in Wonderland and there are times when I feel I am running around looking at my watch all the time trying to fit it all in, so it seemed apt to me, also I can have some fun with the graphics for the certificate. πŸ˜€.

What the quest is:-

The quest takes six weeks.

You can join any time within that six weeks.

The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

I ask that you are a graduate . The main reason I ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured so I wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:-

To run three times a week

To slowly increase distance

To train for a specific race

To add In Stretch and strength exercises

As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.

Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.

So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put

I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............

Your name will be added for the duration of the Quest.

Good Luck everybody !

No running for me last week but did do another hydrotherapy session this time a more one to one. They really are good. I have found out I can use the Guys hospital hydrotherapy pool after my sessions finish privately on Friday nights for only Β£8 a session when I've finished I think I might treat myself once a month for core work. Wishing you all a happy healthy week. Rfc x.

Glad the hydrotherapy is working for you...:)

I have this image of you now, at Guy's at night...everyone left and swimming in a deserted pool, low lights and quiet and slightly eerie like a film scene..( Yep...odd imagination) !

It sounds great though..:)

Hehe you know you might not be far off there, when I arrived last week all the lights were off and no one was there, they have those lights that come on as you walk in. It's in the basement as well so a little creepy πŸ˜€πŸ˜¬.

Eeekk.....just like a spooky film πŸ˜„

I ran 3 x 5k as planned. Run days decided for this week so I can hit my goal again πŸ˜€

A modest week but the key achievement was completing the Meditation Challenge... and I have taken it forward beyond the end of the programme.

Getting there, step by step.. :)

A slightly speedy 3K and a solid 5 and a weird, but great fun, mixed and muddy 8K yesterday :)

Loads of walking as ever!

Happy running everyone this week!

A 4k during the week and a 10k yesterday :)

Ideally I need to do 6k tomorrow if I am to hit my February 50k goal. However, my knee is slightly twingy so I'll see how it feels tomorrow morning.

This week is a little odd here in Ashbourne as the whole town is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons for our little football event of Shrovetide: facebook.com/bbc.emt/videos...

so I'll have to go early tomorrow and then leave it till Thursday to go out again!

Happy running all :)

Brilliant!

Got stuck in Asbourne once when the Shrovetide football was on.. in the tin tent.. jammed up in Sturston Road.. terrifying, although the guys who keep the crowd in check were amazing!

Don't you get squished!!! x

Oooh, that must have been very scary! I do pity people who try and get through the town on these two afternoons, not realising that the world stops for us!

I have perfected the art of flattening myself against a wall or hiding behind a bunch of much larger people :D Yes, the stewards are great, and on the whole the players are too - if they realise someone is in trouble, normally a large hand will descend and hoick them out of the way before they get (too) damaged! I don't follow for the entire 7 hours, though, I usually go to sing 'God Save the Queen', 'Auld Lang Syne', see the ball thrown up, see the initial half an hour or so, depending on where the hug goes, and then I'm back home to listen on the radio where it's nice and warm. No wading in rivers for me! :) xx

That football thing is dead barmy! πŸ˜€! Nutters all πŸ™„

I am plugging away with training runs. All going ok so far.

Nutters? It's their religion!! It's quite funny because there have been a lot of huge beefy blokes running round the town recently. They have obviously been in training :) Glad yours is going well.

Afternoon All :-)

I had a good week last week. A 14k and 2 x 7ks , all part of my HM plan. Its been a bit of a long, hard slog so far for me, but I feel as if I am finally turning a corner .

On a personal note, I went to the cinema Saturday night, and I had ONE Fruit Pastille ,just one , and my flippin' tooth fell out !

I had to put my packet away as I thought I would be going home with my teeth in my pocket at this rate . Ha ha , Blimey - Pesky gnashers - Pah !

Have a good week fellow Questers and to all those on the IC and those going through tough times, I am sending lots of healing and soothing vibes. Hang on in there xxx

Thankyou Floss, I am going back to the dentist on Thursday * sigh * :-) xxx

OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to poppypug

Hate the whole teeth thing... don't like going to the dentist much, although he is lovely... hope it gets sorted :) x

Snowing hard here currently! Cannot believe it !

poppypug profile image
poppypugGraduate in reply to Oldfloss

Oh its funny but I caught a glimpse of my dentist in Sainsburys on Friday and I thought " I wont be seeing you for ages ha ha ! " That'll teach me :-) xxx

The weather forecast is really bad for the next couple of days , colder than Moscow apparently ! :-) xxx

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to poppypug

Well.. ten minutes in and the ground is white over.. oh joy!

if you see the dentist again, tell him to avoid the fruit pastilles! :) x

Anniemurph profile image
AnniemurphGraduate in reply to poppypug

Blimey, Pops :( Honestly, the reason I eat more chocolate these days is because I have had to give up nuts, mints, toffee and things like fruit pastilles because of my wretched teeth. Hope you can get it sorted, and well done on the runs - your training looks like it's going champion! xx

poppypug profile image
poppypugGraduate in reply to Anniemurph

Ah thank you Annie. I can say after a long time , that my training is finally going well :-)

I try and avoid anything too chewy, but I thought I would be okay with a Fruit Pastille , apparently not. Little sugared balls of hell , the evil wotsits ! :-) xxx

OMG Pops! That's the stuff of nightmares! One Pastille Pops! That should be your new 'andle.

Sorry for laffin. I can't 'elp it

Ha ha , One Pastille Pops - I like it ! :-)

I think my tooths in my handbag somewhere , I was scrambling about in the dark at the pictures trying to put it in a safe place :-) xxx

I hope the film was worth losing a tooth! I can't imagine any that would warrant that scenario; not from the current clutch that is.

It was Patriots Day, about the Boston Marathon bombings . Mark Whalberg was in it and produced it . I had a bit of a sob at the end xxx

I am rubbish at new films. Nothing seems to induce me to go to the flicks. Last time I was there was Curse of the weir rabbit πŸ‡πŸ˜€

poppypug profile image
poppypugGraduate

I only went cos it was a freebie :-)

Cant remember the last time I went to the pictures before that . I think it was to see Mike Bassett - England Manager , yonks ago anyway .

It did seem strange watching a film without a pug sat on my head :-D xxx

Hi everyone.

Only one parkrun and a spinning session last week. The week before was 2 x 5k, spinning, yoga and a circuit training 😳

Can't seem to shift the weight though. Going to start afresh on 1st March. It's the alcohol that's the problem, but after some days at work it's the only answer...

I'll write a proper report post later, but a quick update to say that I did the Brighton Half Marathon on Saturday. Thanks to all for your encouraging comments and advice over the months. My goals were:

* to finish

* to finish before they re-opened the roads

* to not finish last

And I'm delighted I acheived all three of them. I even overtook a fancy dress duck with about 5k to go !

This week my training plan says Rest every day until Saturday, when it suggests a gentle 5k, so I will do just that !!

Well, I still haven't been out running but I think I am finally at the tail end of this lurgy. Shame I don't now have time to go out running for a few days!! Fingers crossed I can get out early next week.....

Had a great 4 1/4 run to work Friday. Even very feint light showing that at last days getting a bit longer. Helped me to avoid some of the broken glass and obstacles on pathway through recreation grounds. Temperature about 5 above freezing and dry.

Today though misjudged the rainfall. Set out about 8am and as soon as my 5 minute warm up walk finished it started pouring down. Thought to myself "I'm here now it's only water" , so went for it. Managed 30 minutes running.

Not too drenched had waterproof (which is never fully waterproof). first time have run in full on in your face rain. The worst part is squelchy running. No matter how well waterproofed shoes are the water gets in from puddles and running water from stepping up and down into gutters.

Managed to suffer it for 30 minutes. Felt bedraggled when got in. But after a few minutes felt chuffed with myself that I had done it and overcome another obstacle.

The core exercises are still hit and miss. Must devise a system to remind myself to do these. Need a cunning plan. Need a visit from a Sergeant Major type to come round and bully me into doing them ! Any volunteers to come to my house and say something like "Get down and start doing them glutes double quick Sunny Jim" !! Or something even more abusive !!!
