If any run is better than no run...

...then tonight's attempt was definitely an 'any run'. I'd gone out with the intention of 30 mins, and the hope of continuing to 5k again - but with several walking breaks in the middle I just wasn't feeling it tonight. Called it quits at 30 mins, and came home. Still glad I went out, and at least next time should be better...

If it's as wild and windy where you are as it is where I am, you did well to get out at all.

It sounds pretty windy from here, but didn't actually seem too bad out. Light rain for a few minutes, but not nearly as bad as I was expecting. :)

It often sounds worse than it is here as well.

LOL if you can hear the wind up here from inside, it is definitely worse when you go outside in it! Well done for going out in this dreadful weather. One of my 'virtual' running buddies calls it resistance training!!!...xx

I seem to have been amazingly lucky with my timing the past few days. Didn't go out on Doris-day (hah!), went on Friday evening in perfect conditions, didn't run in the wind and pouring rain yesterday, managed to find the not-too-windy part of this evening! ;)

It's still more than I've done all week. (although I inadvertently did some speed work on Wednesday, running after the post man who had left me a package 2 mins before I got home, therefore he had to be in the vicinity somewhere! I found him, and rocked London in my bargain ebay leather jacket. Which nobody saw because Doris made me keep my coat on, but hey!).

The next one'll be better. x

I love the image of you running round after the postman! Definitely more energetic than Mr Coal-man who trekked forlornly round our village yesterday morning trying to find the load of logs and coal which should have been delivered here the previous Friday but which had been left in totally the wrong garage (as in, we don't have one!)... Celebratory fire this afternoon and evening now that we have fuel again, and the weather definitely justifies it ;)

I fantasise about real fires! We tried but kept filling the house next door with smoke...

I must admit I was proud of myself! I hadn't planned on sprinting around the streets on Wednesday morning and pre c25k don't think I'd have made it!

Our chimney isn't great - so when the wind blows from the wrong direction it fills our living room with smoke and we end up having to keep a window open...! But I love the fire. It's at least as much about therapy and feeling cosy as it is about warmth! :)

With you on that!

We all experience them, RainbowC, for reasons we're invariably able to explain. Don't dwell upon it, rest up and look forward to your next outing.

Just re-reading your tribulations this week I should think any run is definitely a good run.

That's definitely true.

We're trying to persuade Miss Rainbow to try and help herself, so things like going for a walk even when she really doesn't feel like it. I told her that one thing which changed my approach to running was when I realised it's ok to not want to go. I give myself permission on days like that to not want to go all through getting changed, putting on my shoes and heading out of the door. But I've never yet come back wishing I hadn't gone.

So yes, although it's been a good day today (no tears! From any of us!!!), running still very much A Good Thing!

Thank you for this post. I often feel like the 'odd one out' because I rarely ever want to run. I wouldn't say I dread it, but I'd rather walk, so it's a lot of mental 'but I don't wanna!!' And you're right, I've never once regretted it when I was done.

I think there's such liberation in realising that it's OK to not want to do it! It's not so OK to not do it, but the not wanting to is fine... ;) I often spend the day at work wanting to go for a run - it's amazing the number of people who run past my office! - but by the time I'm home, changed, and ready, all the motivation has drained away...

Just keeping things going til you start 'feeling' it again. Well done it takes commitment to go running when you aren't really looking forward to it.😊

Hope next time feels better. xxx

Ah, I just feel I am not alone! Thanks for posting this. :D

.

I guess that means, you are not alone too! :P

.

Well Done RainbowC!

Definitely not alone - either of us! ;) I like to try and be positive when I can - it's always fun to write up a really good run. But sometimes that would just be a lie - and this was one of them.

Sometimes it's good to set the bar low - it means next time has to be better! ;)

When I have a run like that I always hear Laura in my head saying ' better than no run'! Sometimes though just resting one more day can make all the difference to me. So sometimes I say to myself 'a great run tomorrow is better than a really tough run today'. Happy running RainbowC
