Me and my shadow!

After completing Run 3 Wk 1 my 72 yr old husband decided that he would like to join me! We decided to start Wk 1 again together. I was pleasantly surprised by how much we helped each other although I was slightly miffed that he seems to be less breathless than me after the 60 seconds Run. We start Week 2 on Sunday. It may take us longer than 9 weeks to get there but the aim is to get healthier and fitter.

Well done BOTH of you! I'm a similar age and have just (today) completed W5R1. It was my second attempt at W5R1, I wrote off my first abortive attempt as a "practice run" as many of the great guys on here will tell you all about .... At the start of C25K it took me 3 whole weeks of preparation (3 shorter interval runs/week) to be even able to do those 1 minute runs in W1, I later gave up, then restarted after New Year. You're doing really great. GO GO GO GO!!

I was a little concerned that we may have left it to late to start this challenge but after completing Wk 1 I am feeling positive that we will get there eventually! I think we will probably do each wk a couple of times until we feel comfortable in our mindset that it is achievable. It is good to know that there are others of a similar age attempting this amazing challenge.

When I started (after my preparation weeks) on the proper C25K I thought, just as you have said, that I was going to repeat weeks before moving on. Simply, don't do that ... if you have successfully completed a week then trust yourself and the programme and move on to the next week. If you have a bad day, bad run, then I have been advised many times on this forum to call it a practice run and just repeat that one run. I'm doing just that tomorrow with W5R2 - my practice run was a couple of days ago! I think sometimes that it takes me longer to nail a week than some of the younger newbies, but do you know what, I don't care!!

Well done! You've made a start and that's the biggest hurdle over. It doesn't matter how long it takes you the important thing to remember is any run is better than no run 😃 Enjoy the programme & let us all know how you're doing 👍😀

That's great! Lovely that you're doing this together.

And remember, you're lapping everyone who is still on the couch. :)
