One week since graduation.....

...and I have continued to run three times, not always successfully, though!!

Run 1 - 30 minutes early evening - took Queen instead of Laura and managed ok (ran for time rather than distance, but got to 3.8km).

Run 2 - a frosty morning - managed 4k in 32 minutes, but had to walk a few times when it was too icy or when running directly into the low sun and being blinded!!

Run 3 - another frosty morning, but slightly later - again managed 4k in 32 mins - again had to walk a few times when it was icy, although I tried to choose paths where the sun had melted the frost (unfortunately this meant that in one place, where I chose a track rather than a path, it had become wet and slippery so I still had to walk!). Also struggled with breathing on this one and needed to use inhaler part way through.....

.....looking at the data from these (thanks to my graduation pressie of a Garmin forerunner! :) ) I think I am going too fast - possibly due to my choice of music!! I've been looking on jog.fm trying to find some tracks which I might already have, but which are the right speed as I quite like being able to run in time with the music.

Fingers crossed to better running this coming week!

You have done really well to get out in the cold. I have to admit that I have more or less gone into hibernation between parkrun. Must try harder to motivate myself to go to the gym and do some cross training - can't stand the dreadmill ;)

I have actually looked into day passes at local gyms!! But hoping I don't have to do that!!

Well done cookie :) If you've managed to get out of the house and run, it's successful! If those gremlins try telling you otherwise, they're lying!

I know that some running is better than no running, and walking a bit is better than falling over, but it still feels annoying not to have run the entire way!!! (and I never thought I'd be saying that!!! :-o )

I do know what you mean - but think back a few weeks and realise how far you've come. :) There's time for pushing on when the ice is gone...

I'm not too keen on them!!! I guess because on work days I have to be out of the house around 7 to drive to work, so I prefer a slower start to the day when I'm not at work!! But I did have a lie-in this morning (having decided not to risk a first Parkrun!) ! :)

That's a good first post-graduation week by the sounds of it. Keep it up, sensible to try and stay slow. It might take you a bit of time to work out what you like music wise and how you pace yourself but you'll work it out. As long as you're enjoying your running, that's the main thing. :)

Thanks - I'm not sure I can say I'm enjoying it yet, but I like the feeling afterwards!!! (especially once I have had a hot shower!) :)

Not what you're looking for?
