...another one! I have not posted my runs this week, they have been wet or damp and mostly foggy, misty or murky.
Coughs and colds seem prevalent everywhere I go, husband currently really under par, and my tickly throat turned into a run stopper!
I had this already written, but after I read ju-ju- s really super, inspirational post this morning... ( if you have not read it, please make sure you do).
I just wanted to say...just like she says, whatever is thrown at you, just hang in there.. you can do it...so can we all
My Lurgy
I have a little lurgy
He isn’t very nice
This little chap is speedy
And he’s caught me once or twice.
He bothered quite a few of us
About this time last year
With every kind of lurginess
And once again, he’s here
.
So many of us are going down
With bugs of every kind
With cold and coughs and sneezles
He really doesn’t mind.
He’s had a go at Bluebirdrunner
davelinks and our aliboo70 too
Poor @ju-ju- and Curlygurly2
And that is just a few…
There’s Flossie12 on the old IC
He made misswobble fall
From twinging knees to twisted limbs
He’s been and caused it all!
If he can make you really ill
He’ll always have a go
And like those pesky gremlins
He loves to see us slow.
I took him on my runs this week
He hid, I don’t know where
Through fog and mist and murkiness
He lurked and waited there
.
He slowed my steps, he chilled my bones
My tickly throat, made sore
But not content with doing that
He thought he’d do some more
.
A tightish chest, a muzzy head
By my run number three
A little cough, and achy legs
Yep, he’d caught up with me
.
I made my way, so slowly home
Just ready to give in,
Hot showers, warm drinks, and snuggly chair
The healing to begin
.
But, turning down my garden path
A special thing to see
A sign of Spring and warmer days
Just waiting there for me
So, nasty little lurgy
You think you’ve got us beat
You really do know nothing
You’ll never stop our feet.
We may succumb to nasty germs
To spills and tumbles too
But like those little snowdrops
We’ll all of us, come through!

After a virtually run-free December (yep, due to lurgies), I am loving being back out there again, Oldfloss. I do think this is my favourite time of year for running 🏃🏽♀️😀x
Thanks you.. I hope you are back on form. but as I have seen all the celebratory graduation parties you have been arranging..I think you must be..big hug xxxxxxxxxx
Bit hit and miss at the moment. Poor pooch is taking a long time to heal! Only doing a couple of runs a week at the moment (but enjoying arranging the parties whilst doing the dawg physio)! 😀
Well.. thank you..I know you have had a few issues...I thought of you when i was writing it.. but could not get you to scan properly! That little lurgy monster gets everywhere! !
Lurgy caught me, sinus, and loads of sneezing with sore & tickly throat which has been hanging out for a while now. Hopefully it stays away from the chest, runs few and far between, tried a run on Thursday but no great shakes! Feel quite lethargic.
Lozenges appear to be helping the throat, so hopefully it's on the way out!😊
That's what I read.. your sinus issues...that's why I wear my hat and buff.. I get real pain in my sinuses if they get cold..
I feel the same Dave.. a tad lethargic...not really ill..but not up to par... I just keep going in the hope I can shake the lurgy monster off..but no Sunday run tomorrow I don't think.
I hope you feel better soon... we need that sunshine and a good cold snap to kill the germs !
Thanks Frank... I think the running has made me much stronger and more able to cast off the ailments.. just a combination of damp yukky weather and greyness I feel! but.. you cannot keep a grey snail down...
Hope the lurgy decides to leave - and I stared incredulously at the snow drops. I ran in minus 10 C yesterday and we didn't get over minus 6 today with snow everywhere. Can't imagine spring. What does it feel like?
Get well soon, dear OldFloss. This seems to be a bad time of year for you, weren't you lurgified this time last year aswell? My test will be March, that tends to be the time the lurgy gremlins descend on me. We shall see!
Blimey, that is cold... I would welcome a little bit colder..but not that much. It has just been so flipping damp and foggy and misty.. all the germs seem to be thriving!
I was, indeed, lurgified last year at this time.. by a huge lurgy dinosaur, which got loads of us .. the Bronchitisaurus!!! Took me ages to get back on form....It is, I think, when the gremlins get me... maybe... you can avoid them this year too!!! I hope so! x
Ahh, thank you Floss, wonderful poem! Unfortunately I have also been caught by the lurgy - high temperature, dreadful headache and sooo tired feeling a bit better today but not going to run till I feel back to normal. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Oh yes! Take heart, the deepest darkest winter days and nights are begining to recede....we will make it through.... (she says hoping the remnants of a long head cold are FINALLY leaving!)....
Love it, Floss! Hope you feel better soon. Silly old lurgy might get in the way for a bit but will never stop our running feet. What a lovely sight those snowdrops must be when you get home too.
Fab! What a talented lady you are 😀 Thank you for bringing a smile to my face in this gloomy January. Hope you are feeling on top of the world soon. Sunshine will be here soon 🌞🌞🌞
Ah yes, the dreaded Lurgy. I know all about the Lurgy...and then on venturing outdoors yesterday after a week of the damn thing my back went. Not a happy bunny.
