O its been a right tough month & really worried if id get back to running ! Monday was first run/walk since 20/12 due to work, Christmas, family home , chest infection & weaTher!! Read a lot of great advice & many thanks for that & went back to run walks on Monday & out again tonight & managed to do 4.10k walk/run. I went back to week 6 & added some extra running at the end. Omg i couldn't believe how my fitness had dropped!!! But at least im back to it as so want to get to that 5k continuous run thaT i did back then😊I can't believe i have done 5ksπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚hope to get out at weekend & keep building up my runs! O i have missed you all i just was on a bit of a low ebb missed my running & hard to motivate myself back out there!! Anyone else struggled after a few weeks not running? 😊

Well done on getting back out there. Life can put our plans on hold for a while but it is just a pause. Take it one run at a time and take it steady - you'll soon be back running 5k. Keep us posted on your progress :) x

Sounds exactly like me! Well done for getting back out there, it's hard isn't it? I had a months gap and then have only managed one a week for the last three weeks. I seem to have lost my running mojo - not that it was ever great lol! I did 30/35 minute runs to start then thought I'd try for 5k yesterday. Cue gremlins! I only managed 3k then wimped out. Husband has gone to parkrun this morning but I feel as though that's never going to be achievable for me. πŸ˜“

O yvonne hang on in there it will be achievable we will do it together πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘i had thought of doing parkrun today but i always said i wanted to run all of it & at 1point i was able to do 5k just not confident to go as i was sliw but ive changed my mindset!! I will do it when i can run even a slow 5k!! Maybe you did too much too soon when you went out i went back to week 6 to start with and ran mire but nit continuously so to keep me going im doing it slowly!! So maybe join me on slow & steady & we can get to parkrun πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜ŠπŸƒπŸƒπŸ˜ŠπŸ˜Šmy mojo pretty poor too so two heads better than noneπŸ˜€

You're right, maybe I was expecting too much too soon. We can do this, we have already proved it, so let's try hard to keep going and find that elusive mojo! X

Phyllis, you're a star, your post inspired me so instead of settling down on the sofa with a coffee and the papers, I've been out for a run! I took your advice and just did 20 minutes. That took the pressure off me and I did it - and almost enjoyed it! πŸ˜€

Lovely to hear from you Pc59 .😊

I too had a long break due to illness and have just started to get back to running. I did a 30 min run to start with then jumped up to 40 mins with run/walk which I found tough. So today I'm going to do a 30min again Stepping Stones to build my confidence again.

I think your idea of coming back slowly is just right, especially in these cold conditions. Well done and hope you get chance to fit in another run this weekend. 😊xx

Glad you are over your chest infection too..and have your energy back.

It could have been me writing half of these posts. Not sure where my running mojo has slipped off to - maybe paying a visit to Gary, George, Stan and all the rest of the gremlin clan :(. They paid me a short visit today at the start of parkrun. My music wouldn't start, my garmin had decided that it didn't know where I was and the couple I had planned to trot with were off like a shot, leaving me and my technotroubles behind. It was only my second run since NYE and there was a lot of walking going on. But, maybe my mojo did come back now and then because the bits that I ran I definitely ran much faster. There's hope. Slow and steady back to where we were when we graduated. We CAN do this!!! :) :) :)

Yep, this is me too!! My running had been a bit sporadic in late November and early December due to injury, then I picked up the cough bug thing that has been doing the rounds, and I didn't run at all for about 3 weeks. This is the first week for a while that I have managed to get out for a run 3 times. Like you, my running mojo had run off and deserted me, but it is gradually coming back. You're right, it is amazing how quickly you can lose stamina, at the moment I can cover 5k, but I am having to walk for intervals after 4 and a bit km. I think the problem is I am setting off too quickly, and not leaving enough in the tank to maintain the pace. Still, I keep telling myself that I am doing myself much more good getting out there and being active than just slobbing out on the sofa (which is very tempting in Edinburgh in January!)

Good luck and keep running!

Yes its def tough after a break! Its funny as im coming to Edinburgh next weekend as my son lives in gorebridge! Infact ive signed up for my first 10k in the Edinburgh marathon festival in may!! Hope i can get fit for that as still get niggles in my knee might have to look into that with a sports physio. Small world but weather i think worse up here in Elgin! We will have to keep each other motivated 😊

I'm back at W4 after injury and lung problems and finding it tough! Much harder doing the short run-walk thing of C25k than running continuously for 45 mins! But that may be because of loss of fitness. Keep trying and building up slowly - the fitness will come back.

I know i was shocked at how hard the run walk was i might try tomorrow & see how far i can go continuously but a bit nervous as knee & hip a bit sore today! But determined to keep going 😊Happy running we will get there!!!

Well done for getting back out there. I was injured for just over two months not long after graduation. It was pretty miserable and gradually worked myself back up from 10 minutes. It's hard but great when you get back to it! Keep going, it will be worth it. :)
