After a great W1R1 outing on Sunday I wasn't able to get out on Tuesday or Wednesday, mainly due to bad planning on my part and transport delays. So W1R2 had to happen today. I decided to squeeze it in at lunchtime before the weather breaks. Predictably the rain started just as I was setting out, so with temperatures at 6C and a steady stream of cold water running down my neck, let's just say I was in no danger of overheating. As on Sunday I got around ok; legs and lungs all fine, but it was heavy going - a run to be suffered rather than enjoyed. Give me cold and bright any day. Looking forward to running in snow over the weekend - that will be a first.
W1R2. 2 days late; Cold. Wet. Hard. - Couch to 5K
W1R2. 2 days late; Cold. Wet. Hard.
Cold and bright (as long as there's no ice on the ground) is lovely. Wet and misrable is, well, miserable. So I totally agree with you.
As for it being heavy going - it's going to feel that way on several occasions. Changing from not running to suddenly getting a regular run in three times every week IS hard work, and it will sometimes feel like it's ALMOST too hard.
However, the progress from week to week is manageable, and we are many, many happy runners that agree that the hard work certainly gives great results in 9 short weeks.
So buckle up, take comfort in the fact that you're already making great progress, and it will not always be hard work. And that's a promise
Well done! It's such a bind when everything seems to conspire against you, whether it be time, life, weather, all of the above! That's 2 down and only one more before you're into week 2. You're on a roll now
Well done for pushing through. It's cold out there and the rain when I went out the other day was icy! Think how much you'll love it when you're running in the spring!
