I "was" a Graduate

Oh lordy! I've had 5/6 weeks off due to Sinus infection, perforated ear drum and Christmas. Been out for 2 runs which require quite a few walking breaks. I'm thinking of going back to Laura but I don't think I need to start from the beginning. Any suggestions on which week I should start with? I can run 2k before a little walk is needed at the moment. Previously, I was running 7/8ks 3/4 times per week. Cheers peeps :D

Good morning! Well I am still on the IC but I would suggest going back to week 6, that's what I am going to do, eventually! Good luck, sorry to hear about your illness, perforated eardrums are very painful. I hope that you are feeling better. :)

I was going to say week 5 or 6 too. Or, you could do just one week four run, a couple from week 5 and then start week 6? Hope things clear up for you and you settle back into your runs easily. I know how frustrating it is!

I would start of with week 4,5 or 6. I think you will benefit from starting with intervals to help you get back into it. You can tell your lucky enough to be able to read your body and know what you need, remember to treat yourself with TLC as well as your body will still be quite delicate. Take care Rfc x.

Hello there. Long time, no see 😊 Sounds like you have been having a rough time. Chewing sugar free gum containing xylitol will help your ear drum. The chewing movement does help as you might find that in future your ear drum could flop again. My consultant gave me that tip 🙂

I always keep my ears covered, all year round when it's blowy or cold. Dust affects it too, and paint fumes etc. Look after your earoles 😊

Hi, that's interesting. I've never heard that before but it makes sense. I have been covering my ears since this happened too :)

Xylitol is a sweetener for sugar free products but is turning out to be a good thing for mouths and ears as it has antibacterial qualities, and reports are coming out that it's helping with mouth and inner ear infections

But keep it well away from dogs, it's lethal stuff for them.

Maybe focus on the time you can run for rather than the distance (of course that's exactly what you'll do with Laura)

After injury/illness I'd suggest just picking a week and seeing how you feel. You might be able to build up a bit more quickly than before the time off. Trial an error until you feel comfortable, only you will be able to tell. :)
