Bah, go away cold I want to run!

Belated happy new year to you all.

Since Christmas I've managed to only go for one run before I was struck down by this horrible cough/sore throat/bronchitis-like cold. The rest of the family came down with it and I thought I was going to avoid it but sadly no. The one saving grace is that it isn't as bad as Mr Inspiredmum's (it's more than man-flu) cold!

I'm feeling more human today and am desperate to go for a run. I'm thinking that if I feel well enough I might try for a run on Monday. As this is my first experience of having to wait for a cold to go before I go running - at what point do you all think you can face running after not being well?

You and me too!!

In my experience you will feel the effects of a cold when exercising for longer than you might imagine. Don't rush to get out and be prepared to accept a drop in performance.

Take it easy. Keep running, keep smiling.

As long as your chest is feeling okay.. and you can breathe:)...maybe wrap up well, and try a jogette, a la Irishprincess .. or a really brisk walk.

I say wrap up, because, although we get warm running.. when we are slower or walking.. well..chilly!

I wrapped up the first outing after coming off the IC, with the broken ribs, and because I went slowly, was very glad of the warm layers!

So... maybe tomorrow.. take a short trail outing and see how you go.. it will blow the germs finally away! :)

You want to ensure you have enough energy to run. It's difficult because you really want to go out for a run, but you're probably not yet 100% even though you feel ready mentally. So, how about a brisk walk, then if you feel like it, break into a teeny tiny run, then, maybe go back to a walk. If you can, do this for a bit, alternating between the two. Then perhaps the next time you go out, you could run for a little longer. Just a suggestion. 😊 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻
