Getting out of the bed was a pain but thanks to the weird early morning YouTube suggestions, it was about not giving into winter hibernation. (What?)
First two intervals were good. Oh my god the following 6 got progressively tougher, especially the last one. I like to think it's not me but the cold weather doing something to my breathing. Hey, what does my lungs know it has only ever bathed in nicotine and other beautiful particulates for a decade.
Who ever designed "the last ten seconds" attaboys at the end of running intervals definitely knew what they were doing. If it weren't for it, I would have turned back after the first two.
Here's to hoping the weather improves!

Well done for getting out there. Cold air does make it hard to breathe - you could try running with a light buff covering your mouth which helps warm the breath. Also, if you are feeling very puffed, you may be trying to go too fast at this stage. A slow jog is all that is required.
Thanks. I will try something to cover over next time.
You might be right on about my pace. I have ignored the pace or posture (mostly trying not to be self conscious) for the first week as all I wanted to do was to get off my couch.
It's great to use that enthusiasm but slow and steady is our mantra on here for injury free progress. You will be running for 30 minutes by the end of next month!
One mini-mantra that always helped me was saying to myself "yes, I'm slow, but I'm lapping everyone at home on the sofa", as it stopped me from exhausting myself too quickly.
