Why I do it (Even if I don't feel like it)

I'm new on the forum, though I'm on my second week of the programme. Much to the confusion of my beloved soon-to-be-husband, I get out of bed and take myself for my active day.

No. I don't really want to get out of bed. Yes, the bed is unbelievably cosy. Yes, I would much much much rather stay in bed and cuddle with him. But I still put my sports bra, running kit and running shoes and head out into the cold frosty day, I do my programme and I come home again (giving the beloved a cold shock when he hugs me in greeting).

Have found that I'm a bit self-conscious, in that I dislike running along the busy road near my house where I feel I'm being stared at by passing drivers getting a good giggle at the fat woman running, and much prefer the local park where there are fewer people and rugby pitch to run around (it's also a bit hillier than the road which helps get my heart rate up)

If I flag, if the gremlin that says "give up" starts whispering that I should stay in bed or miss a day, I keep reminding myself why I'm doing it: I want to look absolutely stunning in my wedding dress this September

You go girl!

What a great post...!

It is hard, especially on these cold mornings, to leave the snuggly warmth of bed! I know.... it was not good yesterday morning, dark, wet, windy and cold! But absolutely fantastic!

Blow those folk who look at you, (actually, they are really jealous)..they wish they were out there and doing it too!

Those pesky gremlins.. you simply ignore them, which they hate.. or you squish them with every single step!

Keep posting, we would love to follow your progress.. we will support, encourage and even give a little shove if you ever need one:)

You are going to look amazing on your wedding day...and every tine you feel a little twinge of doubt..just focus on that :)

Fantastic..well done😊

Your username says it all, you can do it and keep posting on here for motivation..

Imagine running in spring and lovely warm sunny days by then you will be all graduated and gazelle like😄

Keep going. xxx

Great attitude. Get the hard part done now while its cold and dark and the new fitter you will be ready to emerge just in time for when its warm and sunny.

Great post😀 I've just done w1 d2 . We get married in May. I've put at least half a stone on since buying " the" dress, hence it won't hasten🙄😳😂. On a health kick now though, I've found myself chanting ' wedding dress' on those loooonnnng 60 second jogs😆👰

in the first week I hated every step, every 60 seconds was pure bloody torture, but I'm stubborn and finished every active day because I wanted to prove to myself that I could. This week was 90 seconds of running and I was further along the track where I normally go before I even realised it. It gets easier. We can do it :)

You tell those gremlins to go away - you CAN do this! :)

I am now on week 8, but still won't run anywhere along a busy road, although my route the last two runs has taken me across the main road near my house! So maybe I am now finding a little more confidence!! As long as you are getting out there, that's what counts! :D

Hi,

What a lovely open post. Keep the drive and commitment your showing and your going to fly through the next seven weeks. The pounds will drop off as you get fitter and you will look great in your wedding dress.

Every credit to you.

All the best for 2017.

Keep at. People are too busy with their own lives to worry about you running along. Even if they are don't worry, I quite often check out other runners because I am curious. Just imagine how you will feel at week 9! Good luck

Good for you! The self conscious bit does start to go away & those who you think are watching you probably aren't or are doing so enviously because they are still on the couch! Seems as though the addiction has kicked in early with you, it will only become even more compelling :-D Enjoy your running & use this fab forum for support & advice. Key advice I found was if it is tough, slow down then slow down some more. Happy running :-)

I sometimes look at other runners - usually thinking 'I wish I was running now, rather than [whatever chore I'm doing]', or 'wow, such commitment running in this weather' with an optional 'I'm glad it's not my running day today' or 'I wish I was running on such a gorgeous day instead of in yesterday's rain/heat/cold/snow'. And if someone slows to a walk that makes no difference, cos I have no idea if they've just run 15 seconds or 25 miles. And frankly even if I did know, it wouldn't matter. They're a runner. So go you! :)

You have the best motivation to keep up with this programme and I am sure that you're going to be very successful at it. That was a brilliant post, well done and I wish you lots of luck. 👏🏻👏🏻😊😊🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻

I sometimes feel self-conscious too when I run because I'm running with a round rather than lean athletic body. Look at some of the This Girl Can YouTube videos. They struck a chord with me.

You are going to look fab on your wedding day. Your determination shines through your post. Good luck!
