Not actually brave enough to post until now... but I've completed Week 4, Run 1, and not actually died, so I'm beginning to think I may actually be capable of running, at least a bit. I'm totally admiring all of you have made it all the way through the program. My running is all outdoors, along rural lanes and on forestry commission tracks. Usually with two dogs who occasionally distract me and give me a much needed break...

Hi FionaTC ...you are brave, you have got to Wk 4 in the midst of winter (unless you are running in Australia 😊)

You can do this too...it works..as you already know if you take the runs slow and steady. Posting on here can be very helpfull, as well as advice there are always people ready to offer encouragement and tips. Knowing you will post a run report often gives you the incentive to get out there and we are always keen to hear about your progress.😊

Welcome and good luck with W4 R2.

As Jan-now-runs suggested, I've definitely found the idea of posting a run report after each run a great incentive to keep going. While I'm doing my run if I start to flag or the gremlins get me instead of giving up, I just think how I'm going to tell my virtual running buddies about how I conquered them. So it will be lovely to hear about your runs FionaTC.

Thanks Jan - I'm running in Wales, so it's cold, but at least not too sweaty! Encouragement appreciated!

God I miss Wales! The people are among the most interesting in the world to chat with, the landscape is beautiful and it's both far enough yet close enough to my original home to be comfortable : )

Welcome to the forum Fiona :)

Well done on your progress so far, you are doing brilliantly. I also run on forest tracks quite a bit, with my Springer, and sometimes along single track roads. What dogs do you have?

A standard poodle called Trysor and a Welsh spaniel called Cadi - they're both loving this new running thing. It covers a lot more ground than walks tend to in winter!

Well done getting started in winter! I should think forestry commission tracks are a lovely place to run. How muddy do they get, though? I run through orchards (surprise :-D ) a lot and some of them are getting very muddy now, though it does depend a bit on where the apple-picking machinery has been. Do let us know how you are getting on.

The main tracks tend to be fine, it's the dude paths that get bogged n and muddy. I'm doing the C25K part on the way out, on the proper tracks, then walking the dogs back via the little paths, so they get to rootle about a bit more. Orchards sound like fun, with windfalls in autumn :-)

Wow... well done and Welcome! Great to have you hear on this fantastic forum!

Loads of friendly tips and advice. We all run the programme in our own way, at our own pace, but know that there is total support from everyone :)

Lucky, lucky you, your routes sound absolutely wonderful...I love, as many of us do, the outdoor running, in all weathers...just got back to my lanes and fields after a stint on the IC with broken ribs, where I had to use my cross trainer to keep fitness levels up. When I got outside again, it was like discovering it all over again!

You are well on the way, so keep posting maybe, you will find us a really friendly bunch. :)

Hi Fiona and welcome. I felt like you did at week 4 but if I can do it so can you. Keep at it and you'll be a graduate before you know it :)
