First of all, thank you so much for the amazing response to my recent "Take the long term view" post after my father in law died. I found lots of comfort in all your kind words but there were too many comments to respond individually. You're a lovely bunch - did you know that?
Today I was one of 850 participants in this event. It was such fun. A tad warm in the suit in unusually mild weather but just great. Loads of kids. Loads of dogs. When I got tired I thought, "Anne, these kids and these dogs have wee short legs compared to you and they're still going strong. No you're not having a little walk!"
The other thing I kept thinking was "... that awkward moment when you turn up at a do and someone else is wearing the same outfit..."

I was the same as you and Sofargoner a couple of weeks ago. Obviously I've never liked colds, or Anneflu as I call them when I have them, but missing running is a new reason to add to the list!
Looks a great event. I used the same reasoning about keeping going on the parkrun although I did allow myself a few strides walk a couple of times as I'm actually faster if I do that at the moment
LOL! My mum went to a wedding once in the same outfit as the groom's mother. She was mortified. My dad offered to take her into the nearest town to buy a new outfit, but she declined. However the M of the G was amazing, smiled beautifully at my mum, put her arm around her shoulder saying "well it just goes to show that we both have fantastic dress sense!"
Lovely to see you and all the other Santas on their run. Wonder what the wee ones made of it though? I think I would have been a tad confused 😐 . . . I saw my mum tiptoe into my bedroom on Christmas morning (well, in the middle of the night) and put my stocking full of presents at the bottom of my bed. I was so excited, but knew I couldn't open any until morning. Eventually I went to sleep. In the morning she came in again, clapping her hands in genuine surprise, announcing that I must have been a very good girl that year for Father Christmas to come with presents. I was five at the time. I thought my mum was a nutter, completely barking. I went to my older brother explaining what had happened. Of course he had been told not to let the cat out of the bag, so said to me "whatever you do, don't tell her you know" Well, as far as I was concerned, that made the pair of them nutters. I finally told her about it when I was 23. By then I had realised that she wasn't completely barking, but trying to keep the magic alive. Oh 😲 I hope Lee337 isn't reading this, I may have just burst his bubble. 😉

Well done in that warm and toasty suit! I would have had to abandon the suit at some point, since my 'boil in the bag' experience in a pixie outfit of the same material running parkrun last Christmas.......😂
It would have to minus something on the temperature gauge to get me to wear one of those again........😬
I did wear shorts and very light running top underneath rather than normal winter gear and I pulled the beard under my chin the minute this picture was taken. But I've never run in a hat before even on the coldest of days so it was the sweaty head that was new!
Would you ever in your wildest dreams imagined this time last year, that you would be a part of this?! Not a spectator or cheer leader - but right there in the middle of all those Santas!! Well done you. 👍😀
