Bring on Week Seven!

...cos I finished week six this morning!!! Yes!!!

The first five or six minutes are the most difficult by far as the legs feel heavy and my breathing seems almost laboured. But then I realised that I was able to turn and call the dog to heel, even have a joke with passing walkers, without sounding madly out of breath.

This, I am thinking to myself, is weird. This has never happened in this 58-year-old body before.

Half way through Laura announces that I'm half way through and I am feeling quite comfy. Just praying the dog doesn't do another poo while I am running. Bless him, he holds on.

The second half of the run is up a gentle slope. Oh dear, thinks part of my brain but the main part of my brain thinks. "Hey, didn't I do this last Saturday? And it was a doddle!" In no time at all Laura suggests I put on a bit of speed for,the last minute, if I feel like it.

To my astonishment I found this actually possible and even enjoyable!

To anyone doing the early weeks and wondering how they can get through the later weeks - the programme is planned so that each week builds on what you did the week before.

So glad I am doing this!!!

Sounds like a great run. Well done. If you're like many of us, that first few minutes may always be tough. It's nice to know that if you persevere that the majority of the time the run will feel much better after five minutes or so.
