Please feel free to share your runs here and chat about how it's all going, sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week.

If your a lurker it is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.

Wishing you all a happy healthy week.

RFCx.

I'm still running but not pushing myself, my sacroiliac joint is inflamed. I have a physio appointment for tomorrow so I'm hoping he tells me to keep running. The most painful thing is sitting too long, which luckily I don't have much time for 😀.

Sorry to hear that RFC. Years ago I had sacro-iliac pain while I was pregnant - not a happy memory. Keeping moving does seem to help.

Thank you. Your right it seems to like movement, I'm hoping he will tell me to keep walking and running tomorrow.

I pressed like but obviously I don't like that you're in pain; it's more a fingers crossed for tomorrow with the physio kind of like! :)

I know, we live in the strange world of liking bad things. Luckily we all understand it. Thank you for your fingers crossed.

Hi there - you have my sympathy and I will be interested to see what you get told as I have the same problem. Both physio and chiropractor told me to stop running but it just seemed to get worse when I did! Does it bother you at night?

I will know more tomorrow. Night is fine but I've had lots of hospital appointments with MrRfc and it is made worse by sitting for long periods of time. I'm really hoping he tells me to keep moving, I will let you know.

Because I have no pain when walking and running he has told me I can keep doing it, but my problem stems from tight glutes that is tweaking the scarily accurate joint rather than that's the cause. I hope yours feel better soon.

Glad to hear you can keep on running! Hope it feels better soon :)

Morning!

Managed a couple of short runs this week.....just building slowly since the iffy knee episode. Im also doing a bit of walk/ strides. There are loads of descriptions of strides but basically Im doing a lengthened stride with purpose, thinking about using the glutes to push off etc which helps me cover ground more quickly. Ive used week one and week 3 of laura, but done the strides in the running bits. Im hoping this will help to allow the knee more rest (less total running) and to improve my pace. Its also v good when you are a bit unsure of the ground eg frost, slippy leaves etc.

Good news re the Christmas eve parkrun virtual team. We have forty runners who have pledged their intention to run , fantastic. Still time to decide to do it if anyone is interested. There is a pinned post on the right for details 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻🏃🏻‍♀️

Happy running every one 😀

Ps its a walking stride Im doing.... can also be done as part of running plan but Im going post injury steady at the mo!

Morning all - did my second 25 minute run of week 7 last night. Still not finding anything easy I'm afraid! Have a little niggle in my right Achilles tendon but it seems fine when I warm up and I can get through it.

Hi all,

I'm keeping up my 3 runs a week - 2 x 30 mins and trying for a longer one at the weekends (though it doesn't always work out that way). I've noticed I'm finding it a bit more difficult to keep my breathing regular when it's really cold, so I've not been pushing myself much in terms of pace. Quite happy to tootle along when it's brass monkeys! :)

I've posted on the quest thread. Still doing 3 runs per week. Yesterdays run a bit slow but still did 33 minutes. Saturday night nibbles at relatives and more relative duties yesterday meant had to do run bit earlier than would like.

No serious relative duties between now and parkrun on 17th December to "put me off my stride" as they say.

10 k training going well, taper this week ready for Sunday's race. I have a little spring in my step at the moment. Fingers crossed. You all know how it is

Went for my GP appointment this afternoon - going to have bloods done tomorrow and an appointment soon with what they call the rapid access chest pain clinic, want to be sure it's not heart related, apparently it's a bit harder to hear with the chest deformity. Slightly spooked but not worried at this stage. In the meantime, sticking to the flat rather than using inclines :)

I ran today (2nd 30 minute run having started again after a long break and illness) and felt like I was dragging a rhino around the field behind me. I have felt so heavy and sluggish today!

Hello, did my first treadmill run ever, was a bit apprehensive (images of me falling off the thing ha ha.. and not being a regular gym enthusiast etc), but sticking to the stamina podcast, I was well chuffed at my longest run yet 35 mins and the first time I could measure my distance/ speed, since I'm very low tech. Did 5.5km in 45 mins (including the 5 min warm ups and warm downs.) Feeling on track (punch the air) YES! I felt like a runner 😆. Just need some better weather for running in the woods again. I was lately put off running my regular routes by a few unpleasant dog incidents, such a shame, glad I got to the gym instead.

Well done for giving the treadmill a go. Like you I'm a low tech kind of guy ! I had my first treadmill experience yesterday. Never thought I would do it but bought new trainers and did a "Gait analysis" on treadmill at the shop. Was only on it for about 3 minutes ! Felt I was running faster than I actually was. I wouldn't mind giving treadmill another go.

At first It felt like a trip to the dentist ! I've seen so many videos on telly of people sliding backwards off them ! But I survived !

Sorry to hear about the dog incidents ! Luckily where I run it is more public around a lake and up a canal where most dogs are on leads and well behaved. But in any environment you can have problems. Not always easy to anticipate what dogs will do. I presume in woods they are already on the lose and exited. At least where I go they are mostly at a standing start and less likely to give problems.

That's a good time by the way. Most on here I think deduct the warm up and warm down times.

Evening all. Just about to leave work. Intending to do week 8, run 1 later on. Wish me luck!!! I'll need it to get through the 28 minutes.

Completed week 5 tonight - twenty minutes seemed to take forever to go by and I was tired by the one minute warning - but managed to turn the pace up a couple of notches for that 60 seconds - I've got no excuses now, if I can run for 20 minutes non stop then i can run for half an hour.

Week 6 run 1 scheduled for Saturday morning - weather forecast looks quite good for then

Well done! That's a real milestone run in my opinion. There'll be no stopping you now!

It's a good think I couldn't run tonight, since I was meeting a friend for a meal. On the way into work this morning I tripped over a kerb and landed on my knees. Fortunately my pride suffered more damage than anything else, but both knees are bruised and feeling a bit tender...! Co-ordination - it's a tricky thing!
