I'm about to begin week 9 on Monday, to graduate do I need to be able to complete 5k, as I only seem on average to be able to do 3.5k.

To graduate you need to complete week 9 - which is three 30 minute runs. You can work towards 5k after graduation, it makes for a great goal.

Just, as runswithdogs says, the 30 minute runs.... just go for it and enjoy... the rest can follow :)

No, not at all, it's about completing the runs in the programme, so it's about the duration to graduate. Very few people reach the 5k in 30 minutes on graduating, the title is misleading.... you are doing great and close now, well done 😎

Definitely not, most of my runs are 3.5 to 4k. It's all about enjoyment for me.

Oh wow! I'm seriously impressed at your physical prowess, sounds like there was some distraction to your analytical though :)

Once you graduate you can then increase your speed, your distance, your wardrobe running outfits. Anyone who did 5k at graduation would be very very fit indeed and probably not in need of the program.

Not sure on the fitness level and not needing the programme, but I did it, but only because I thought I had to...duh... I just went so slowly and steadily all the way through the programme I think it just happened quite naturally...I think I probably was fit by the time I got to Graduation... and battling against the winter weather gave me extra strength!!! :)

Wow Oldfloss, you are good me think, not like us "old codgers". Here at the moment we have to battle the flies. Horrible bush flies who just like a free ride.

Yuk.. flies love me.. I would be eaten alive... :)

This old codger has just been out for a 5K, very, very brisk walk..with just a few very, very, very tentative, almost a jog step, but not quite, intervals; three weeks on from my broken ribs fall and seeing how it all felt. Talk about the return of the Grey Snail :) Loved being outside again though... :)

Given your recent PB time Oldfloss I am not surprised that you completed the Cto5K in under 30 minutes.

I am also starting to question the 'Old' prefix to your name.

Thank you all for the information and encouragement, week9 run1 is complete only another 2 to go for this overweight 60 something....I know the picture is misleading but was taken when I was 50 and still weight 9 stone, before my thyroid rudely went into retirement.
