Yesterday I ran my first ever 10k and I'm mightily proud of myself, infact you won't believe how proud I am, but this post isn't about me. You see, as I ran I got to thinking about this forum and about all the wonderful people who have posted on here and how they have inspired me with their fantastic deeds and can-do attitude.
I started c25k in early 2014 and have been in love with running ever since. During that time this forum has kept me enthusiastic and committed, even when injury stopped me for running for months on end. There are few things more calculated to whet the appetite for a run than to come on here and read a few posts and see what everyone else is up to.
So to everyone who's helped me along the way -from IannodaTruffe , ju-ju- , Realfoodieclub ,misswobble and everyone else who was here before I joined and who offered such great advice when I was a newbie; to the lovely people who started about the same time as me, like poppypug , Curlygurly2 , Irishprincess and far too many others to name individually who have been on this running adventure with me; to those lovely people who haven't posted for awhile but who aren't forgotten, like Rignold , Miles_Yonder and of course Hidden and dozzer19 ; and to amateurwriter and all you other wonderful people who have encouraged me with your stories of courage, determination and success, thank you. To mis-quote Isaac Newton, if I can run further now, it's because I'm standing on the shoulders of giants. You, my friends, are all giants. xx

Well done AncientMum - so pleased for you! That first 10k is SO special! I totally agree about the wonderful support and inspiration on this forum. I wonder where this wonderful running journey will take you next?!

Still not sure what to do. Prodigal Son will be sitting his AS exams so it's probably unlikely this year and next. If we get a timetable early enough we might manage tho! After 2018 I'll be able to run it every year for the rest of my days! Tempting tempting very very tempting XxX

I like everything about it, you know I do! It's the small matter of abandoning my child in his hour of need to wander off following my own dreams in another country!

Sadly Vixchile hasnt posted in ages and her garmin account is set to private, so I'm not sure where she is. I'll try pm her. Can't remember how I entered to be honest, it was so long ago, almost the first day it opened. (I was very keen!!) 😂
Well done on your first 10K - what an achievement 👏👏 a really beautiful post too. This forum is full of wonderful and supportive people and many if us would never have achieved as much without each other - me included 😀

Aah what a lovely post AM! you have had to start again from scratch walking and then running so its fantastic to hear you've reached a big 10k goal! You are a lovely lady and a good friend, and i can't wait to see you there with a 10k bling photo, go find a race before the year is out!!!
Ah Ali, lovely Ali, you've been a massive inspiration to me with the astonishingly difficult runs that you tackle with such enthusiasm. I haven't been to the IOW for about 15 years, but my lasting memory is of all the massive hills, and trying to propel my children along when the gradients got too much for small legs. You run up them with alacrity and then write such entertaining posts about how much fun you had. Thank you for all your kind words and encouragement over the years xx

Many Congratulations on reaching the dizzy heights of 10k , it is a fantastic achievement and you should be sooo proud of yourself, especially when you have had so many setbacks regarding injuries . You have never even given up, and that shows true grit and determination .
You are such a important part of this forum and long may it continue. Always so supportive , encouraging and a very wise lady too .
Aww thank you Sweetie, that's such a lovely thing to say. We are indeed old (but not in a chronological way) running chums and your support and encouragement have been so important to me, and your success has been a massive inspiration.

A BIG WELL DONE to you AM, from another slow reader, for perseverance and patience in getting to that 10k target, via so many ups and downs. As for being a giant.... you've obviously never met me. But we can all feel like giants when we have the support of this community and you have been a brilliant supplier of encouragement, consolation and humour, which I am sure has bolstered many on their running journey.
