I really don't know how many times I've started week 5 this year. It must be at least 4 or 5 by now, I think! But since I hadn't completed it last time I ran about 10 days ago, I decided that I'm just going to go back in there this week, and see if I can get through it. I've been meaning to go out for a run for days, but I've got in from work too late, or had to do something else in the evening, or been too hungry, or too tired...
This morning, though, we caught a glimpse of the Abingdon Marathon. I'm just in awe of anyone who can even contemplate 26 miles. It's just beyond my comprehension. But it was a beautiful day, perfect running conditions, so I was resolved that somehow, at some point today, I was putting on my trainers and getting out there. So after lunch out, and a gentle dog-walk, off I went.
It had clouded over rather, and was almost threatening to rain at one point, but what a great run. I often feel as though I'm really holding myself back to make sure k have enough energy to get right through, but today I decided that having fun and just letting go was more important, so for the middle run I just stopped worrying and went at a comfortable-ish pace - definitely a notch or two quicker than usual, but not flat out.
My phone died just as I'd told it I'd finished (perfect timing!), so I haven't yet seen the stats, but part of me doesn't actually care whether I set any records or not! I had fun, I enjoyed it, and I'm GOING to finish this week!
