Junior members graduating

I have had a request to have a page to congratulate junior members coming through. To join up there is a strict age policy so I can not give out badges the normal way.

So here are our first two Juniors.

Ohhhh I never saw an age policy - I can't see a reason for that? I didn't want them on here particularly, but signed them up so that they could 'graduate'.

Given how many kids are obese these days, I can't imagine a good reason not to include all ages :(

Anyway, given that there were rules about the age, that we missed - thanks for doing this (although RaphGoesRunning is 9 and VeganLionCub, 12..

Can't help feeling a bit crushed and anticlimactic after all their efforts, though...

It's a healthunlocked policy. As you can imagine with all the health conditions the whole site deals with and some of the delicate nature of this they have decided on an age limit to protect children

I've Adjusted their ages. Sorry for the mistake.. If you wanted You can get them a pin badge , there is a pinned post from competerunner I think the actual badges are £6.00.

Maybe, get them involved with Junior Park runs? I am sure they would have fun :)

I think we will - the Park Run local to us, allows kids if they run with their parents :)

That is brilliant... they will love the whole atmosphere, other children, and great for you to continue to run together :)

Well done junior runners. You took on the plan and stuck with it. That shows gumption and dedication. Good for you mini-graduates.😊

I have been searching all over this site for anything about age restrictions and I can't find anything. So, my comment is..wherever this age restriction is actually stipulated, maybe this could have been made a bit more VISIBLE so that children who have run three times a week for nine weeks, didn't find out half an hour after their third run of week nine that they are not allowed to graduate!

I find it sad in these days of alarming rates of childhood obesity (noo.org.uk/NOO_about_obesit... that an NHS site to encourage people to become fit and maintain healthy habits and lifestyles should not allow children to take part. I have never seen anything on any of these posts that was not suitable for children to read and, while I don't bear any anger towards any individuals about this, I will say that it was very crushing and disappointing for our children and has taken some of the joy out of the day.

I don't wish to engage in any further discussion about this as there is clearly nothing to be done but that is my comment.

Thank you to all the lovely people who have supported us and left nice comments over the last nine weeks. I have decided, after this disappointment, to take at least a couple of weeks break from this forum.

Thanks everyone. X

It is not up to administrators to make the rules and regulations of this site, it is us to abide by them therefore there is also no discussion to be had on this topic but when you agree to be a member you agree to the terms and conditions on this page by ticking the box.

That said, as administrators we try to do everything within the guidelines to welcome new junior runners with messages to their family members to help support and encourage and have done that for a few years.
