Week 6, run 1!

Just home from wk6r1. So glad to be doing intervals for this run and actually found it tough going. Maybe that was because I have not run since Wednesday last week and have done loads of walking in the intervening time. Up hills on Friday and Saturday, with sons in Leeds and Sheffield. Not the flattest of cities ;) . Still, my run today was at a slightly faster pace than the 20 min creep of wk5r3 but that would not be hard.

Happy Monday and good running to you all :) . x

well done slowworm. I did week 6 last week and that first run is very tricky. It got better as week went on😀 Have you a watch that tells you the pace? Thinking of buying one.

Thanks, @Giddykipper :) . No, I don't have a running watch. I wear a Fitbit so I can track how much ground I have covered. I have looked at watches but nearly fainted at the price of some of them. X

Well done on the run Slowworm! I am on wk 9 and have used the MapmyRun app on my phone to track distance and also to log runs. I just use the free app although I believe you can upgrade if you pay for more toys with it. At the moment I find this does everything I need?

My son suggested Strava. That's what he uses both for running and cycling.

Can you set that sort of app to record your run and still listen to Laura or music at the same time? See, I am a Luddite when it comes to such things, lol ;)

Yes you can run MapmyRun alongside Laura or your music, set it off as you begin your run to Track my Run. I go into settings and add a 30s delay here so it gives me time to set Laura going and go out of the door. Map my run then buzzes when the 30s is up. I have sometimes set 5m delay so I just track the run not the warm up walk. You can also ask it to let you know when you have coveted half k or Each 1k if you want. The voice just cuts into your Laura pod or music.

Happy running and good luck!

Sorry meant to say :

I don't know about Strava but I know a lot of C25k runners on this forum use it.

I'd prefer not to use Strava to be honest. Don't want my boys and their mates stalking me!!

A lot of people struggle with this one. Well done for pushing through it even after all the hills!

Thanks, melly4012 . Those hills were tough, especially taken at the speed my two fit whippet boys go ;) .
