Don't forget to breathe πŸ™„

So, Laura and I split up a couple of weeks ago and I have been missing her

Now that I think that I am an elite athlete having completed C25K πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚, I thought I'd do some work on improving my speed and decided to run to the speed podcast

Gosh it was lovely to hear Laura again, giving me lots of hints and tips and the beat was good - faster than I usually go and then we got into the first 5 minutes run. Again a lot faster but I counted as I went and enjoyed it.

Legs felt good, pace was fine, no aches or pains but my breathing after 5 minutes was beyond help - I dread to think what I sounded like πŸ˜‚ - I just could not suck enough air into my lungs fast enough !!

So the run ended up being 5 minute intervals of running and walking which isn't quite how I imagined my first post grad run πŸ™„ - how funny!! Although I have to say the run parts felt good - just couldn't sustain them

So, change of plan me thinks! New next steps are to improve stamina and general fitness levels before speed I think 😯

Good news is I have clocked up over 9 miles on my marathon charity run so far this month - 17 miles to go in 19 days - bring it on - SLOWLY πŸ˜‚πŸ’πŸŒπŸšΆ

I am about to split with Laura too and was considering the next step of podcasts. Your posts gives me encouragement to try this thanks

I graduated three or four weeks ago and although I downloaded the c25k+ podcasts I haven't been using them yet as I think that it is a little too soon for me. I have been building up time of running and my average speed has been increasing ever so slowly. But I am fine with that. At the moment for me it is about making running three times a week for at least 39 mins a habit that I enjoy.

I haven't returned to Laura since graduation either but I am definitely improving. There was an excellent post recently about keeping the enthusiasm going post graduation which I found really helpful so I'm just mixing it up and having fun πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

A bit of consolidation sounds like a good idea before trying to up your speed or distance. Glad you're having fun - but gently does it!

I'd start with stepping stones. The titles of these podcasts actually fit what they aim to achieve and this is a great step before trying stamina or speed.
