Week 1 run 1 - I'm back, yay!

So, what a journey it's been already. Back in June I first started this programme as a means to get fit and with an aim to running with my youngest (10 years old) daughter. I managed to complete week 1 but had to pull up due to a knee injury. This set me back a number of weeks but with several physio appointments, a foam roller and knee exercises I felt I was ready to start again. By this point the summer holidays were looming and with it our holiday which involved lots of swimming and cycling. Needless to say I didn't want to jeopardise our holiday so my active daughter got me in high ropes in the tree tops instead! The week after our holiday I did Europe's longest zipwire in North Wales so once again I didn't want to risk my knees.

I resigned myself to the fact that I would have to wait until the children went back to school (which is today). My husband almost put paid to that as yesterday aftenoon he managed to break his leg so I've duly been playing nurse. He told me to go for my run this morning and even complimented me in my running gear saying I looked the part and it looked good on me, so that put me on a high!

I decided to do my first run on grass to be kind to my knees. I was apprehensive and started to feel nervous about that first 1 minute run but when it came to it I had to keep telling myself to go slowly. I was so pleased when I finished that first bit as my knees withstood it. I concentrated on my breathing throughout the 30 minutes and was just starting to wonder how many more runs when Laura said there were only two more to go. That last run felt so good and I was determined to get to the end and I certainly did.

I am proud to say that I can most definitely tick week 1 run 1 off - yay!
