Running at sea!

So I'm now on my cruise - currently anchored just off Lerwick in the Shetland Islands. I didn't manage to run the day we embarked as planned because we got delayed by the M20 closure on our way down, but yesterday was a sea day, so off I went to the treadmill to do Wk 3 run 2. All was reasonably OK. The treadmill was a bit confusing because distances and speeds were in miles and not km, so I went a bit slower than I normally do (assuming, as my husband said, that the machines are correctly calibrated).

I've now worked out the equivalents so will try to go back to usual pace next time, though to be honest, I found it harder work because of the movement of the ship as well as the treadmill. We are in port tomorrow then at sea Thursday, so it might depend if I can run tomorrow while we are not moving! I'm going to check out the track on deck this afternoon to walk a mile in 13 laps, so I will see what I think about running outside instead, weather permitting. I spent the morning on a bird watching tour on a smaller boat so I could do with the exercise!

My goal is to run alternate days, but not to beat myself up if I don't because I want to enjoy the ports. So my rule is that if I haven't run on the alternate days because we are in port too long, I will run at least on the next sea day. That means another 3 runs minimum over the next 12 days which will at least stop me going backwards.
