This forum is great because being able to post 'I did it' is what is keeping me going at the moment.

Week 7 RUN 1 completed yesterday morning. An hour after the run I walked just under 7K and the day before just over 12K. Not once during the walks did a gremlin pop in my head and say discouraging things but while running (Jogging!) I have to keep telling it I am going to finish so I can post, I am going to finish, I am...I am.. The other thing keeping me going is that I can't wait to choose the music I play.

Yes, I get those too. Maybe it is just that we have been walking forever but that running motion and the sensation of it is not yet hard wired in our psychology yet? Guess it's a case of just battling on with the voices and enjoying the achievement when we do finish. I find the "2 more mins", " OK, another 2........... Oh look, only got another 2 left....I can do thi" approach works for me!

I know what you mean, I've never posted on a forum before, but this one is definitely an intrinsic part of the learning to run experience! Have you found too that running makes the walking feel so much nicer now!

Those gremlins have no change with you, do they!!! Well done :)

It's weird how those gremlins pop up even when you KNOW you can do it! I liken the walking bit to carrying an empty suitcase... and running like carrying a full one! Just that bit of extra effort needed :)

I remember those gremlin-busting conversations too! Well done for getting to W7 where the end is firmly in sight and gremlins start to fall by the wayside I think! Great that thoughts of posting on here help you through your runs and that you are reaping the benefits of being a runner!🙂🏃🏻

I completely agree with you. I'm not normally a forum person either, but I am finding this one an integral part of C25K, because the support is so amazing and so genuine. Good luck with your last 3 weeks of the programme.

You have got so far into the programme. Now you just have the consolidating long runs left and Laura has told you that you are a runner. So believe her, know you can do it now and that will help see off the gremlins. The first ten minutes will still be harder, there is some medical reason for that but I just keep going and wait for those minutes to be over then I tell myself that this will be easier now. Mind over matter!☺
